In magnetic nanoparticles the uniform precession (q = 0 spin wave) mode gives the predominant contribution to the magnetic excitations. We have calculated the energy of the uniform mode in antiferromagnetic nanoparticles with uncompensated magnetic moments, using the coherent potential approximation. In the presence of uncompensated moments, an antiferromagnetic nanoparticle must be considered as a kind of a ferrimagnet. Two magnetic anisotropy terms are considered, a planar term confining the spins to the basal plane, and an axial term determining an easy axis in this plane. Excitation energies are calculated for various combinations of these two anisotropy terms, ranging from the simple uniaxial case to the planar case with a strong out-of-plane anisotropy. In the simple uniaxial case, the uncompensated moment has a large influence on the excitation energy, but in the planar case it is much less important. The calculations explain recent neutron scattering measurements on nanoparticles of antiferromagnetic α-Fe2O3 and NiO.  相似文献

In this paper we investigate the behaviour of the solutions of equations ΣI=1n aixi = b, where Σi=1n, ai = 0 and b ≠ 0, with respect to colorings of the set N of positive integers. It turns out that for any b ≠ 0 there exists an 8-coloring of N, admitting no monochromatic solution of x3x2 = x2x1 + b. For this equation, for b odd and 2-colorings, only an odd-even coloring prevents a monochromatic solution. For b even and 2-colorings, always monochromatic solutions can be found, and bounds for the corresponding Rado numbers are given. If one imposes the ordering x1 < x2 < x3, then there exists already a 4-coloring of N, which prevents a monochromatic solution of x3x2 = x2x1 + b, where b ε N.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider approximations to probability distributions over Z . We present an approach to estimate the quality of approximations to probability distributions towards the construction of small probability spaces. These small spaces are used to derandomize algorithms. In contrast to results by Even, Goldreich, Luby, Nisan, and Veličković [EGLNV], the methods which are used here are simple, and we get smaller sample spaces. Our investigations are motivated by recent work of Azar, Motwani, and Naor [AMN]. They considered the problem to construct in time respective space polynomial in n a good approximation to the joint probability distribution of the mutually independent random variables X1, X2,…,Xn. Each Xi has values in {0, 1} and satisfies Xi=0 with probability q and Xi=1 with probability 1−q where q∈[0, 1] is arbitrary. Numerous studies of the low-temperature saturation magnetization of ferrimagnetic nanoparticles and diamagnetically substituted ferrites have shown an anomalous temperature dependence. It has been suggested that this is related to freezing of canted magnetic structures. We present models for the temperature dependence of the magnetization of a simple canted spin structure in which relaxation can take place at finite temperatures between spin configurations with different canting angles. We show that the saturation magnetization may either decrease or increase with decreasing temperature, depending on the ratio of the exchange coupling constants.
