We experimentally study a new type of resonator, namely, a barrel-shaped dielectric resonator with whispering-gallery modes
which is formed by the cutting dielectric hemisphere. Compared with a hemispherical dielectric resonator, the E type oscillation
spectrum of such a resonator is rarefied with respect to the azimuthal index. Comparative analysis of the electromagnetic
characteristics of the barrel-shaped dielectric resonator and half-disk dielectric resonators shows that the radiation losses
of the mode energy from the spherical surface are smaller than those from the cylindrical surface. This fact stimulates the
high values of the internal Q-factor of modes of the barrel-shaped dielectric resonator.

The change in the free-electron density in ultrathin (5 nm) superconducting NbN films in the initial state and after irradiation by O+ ions to doses of (0.1–0.9) × 1017 cm–2 has been studied by electron energy-loss spectroscopy (EELS). The analysis has been performed on cross section samples prepared by the focused ion beam method, using plasmon oscillations with energies up to 50 eV. The radiation-induced replacement of nitrogen atoms with oxygen atoms in niobium nitride is found to change the electrical properties of the material, which leads to a decrease in the free-electron density with an increase in the irradiation dose. 相似文献

The results of experimental and computer-modeling investigations of neutron spectra and fluxes obtained with cold and thermal
moderators at the IBR-2 reactor (Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR), Dubna) are presented. These studies are for
the YuMO small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) spectrometer (IBR-2 beamline 4). The neutron spectra have been measured for
two methane cold moderators for the standard configuration of the SANS instrument. The data from both moderators under different
conditions of their operation are compared. The ratio of experimentally determined neutron fluxes of cold and thermal moderators
is shown at different wavelengths. Monte Carlo simulations have been carried out to determine the spectra for cold-methane
and thermal moderators. The results of calculations of the ratio of neutron fluxes of cold and thermal moderators at different
wavelengths are demonstrated. In addition, the absorption of neutrons in the air gaps on the way from the moderator to the
investigated sample is presented. SANS with the protein apoferritin was done with both cold methane and a thermal moderator
and the data were compared. The prospects for the use of a cold moderator for a SANS spectrometer at IBR-2 are discussed.
The advantages of using the YuMO spectrometer with a thermal moderator with respect to the tested cold moderator are shown. 相似文献

An analytical model, which describes the drift and diffusion mechanisms for the formation of the nonlinear response (local
and nonlocal nonlinearities) of photorefractive crystals on the microscopic level, is constructed. New types of stable self-consistent
distributions of the light field intensity, i.e., spatial solitons, are found. The trajectories of their motion (self-bending)
are calculated, and the possibility of observing a new nonlinear-optical effect in photorefractive crystals, viz., the formation
of spatial shock waves, is demonstrated. The modulation instability appearing when plane waves propagate in photorefractive
crystals is analyzed, and the characteristic spatial scales of the light field distribution formed as a result of self-interaction
(fanning) are determined. The results of the analysis are confirmed by computer simulation data.

We develop a theoretical basis for understanding the spin relaxation processes in Kondo lattice systems with heavy fermions
as experimentally observed by electron spin resonance (ESR). The Kondo effect leads to a common energy scale that regulates
a logarithmic divergence of different spin kinetic coefficients and supports a collective spin motion of the Kondo ions with
conduction electrons. We find that the relaxation rate of a collective spin mode is greatly reduced due to a mutual cancellation
of all the divergent contributions even in the case of the strongly anisotropic Kondo interaction. The contribution to the
ESR linewidth caused by the local magnetic field distribution is subject to motional narrowing supported by ferromagnetic
correlations. The developed theoretical model successfully explains the ESR data of YbRh2Si2 in terms of their dependence on temperature and magnetic field. 相似文献

A prototype of a neutron spectrometer based on a gas proportional counter with recoil-proton registration is created at the Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (FLNP JINR) in Dubna. The spectrometer is developed to measure the kinetic energy of protons scattered elastically at small angles that are produced by (n, p) reaction in an environment containing hydrogen. The elaborated prototype consists of two cylindrical proportional counters used as cathodes. They are placed in a gas environment with a common centrally situated anode wire. Studies on the characteristics of the neutron spectrometer were conducted using 252Cf and 239Pu-Be radioisotope neutron sources. Measurements were made with monoenergetic neutrons produced by the 7Li(p, n)7Be reaction when a thin lithium target was bombarded with a proton beam from an EG-5 electrostatic accelerator, as well as with neutrons from the reaction D(d, n) 3He with a gas deuterium target. 相似文献
