Synthesis of aminoalkyl derivatives of 2-benzyl-5-hydroxyindole

Derivatives of 2-benzyl-5-methoxyindole-3-carboxylic acid are decarboxylated on heating and are converted to the corresponding 2-benzyl-5-methoxyindoles. 2-Benzyl-5-methoxygramine hydrochlorides were obtained from the latter and used to obtain (2-benzyl-5-methoxy-3-indolyl)acetonitriles. The nitriles were converted to 2-benzyl-5-methoxytryptamines by hydrogenation. A number of Mannich bases were obtained by aminomethylation of 2-benzyl-3-carbomethoxy-5-hydroxyindole derivatives.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 2, pp. 208–212, February, 1971.     

Methyl γ-phenylacetoacetate in the synthesis of derivatives of α-aminoindol-2-yl-acetic acid

The cyclization of the di(phenylhydrazone) of methyl -phenyl-,-dioxobutyrate with hydrazines has given phenylhydrazones of methyl indol-2-ylglyoxylates, which have been reduced to methyl -aminoindol-2-ylacetates. Spatial isomerism in the N-methylisatin α-anil series

2-Phenylimino derivatives of 1,3-thiazine (I), 1,3-oxazine (I), pyrrolidine (II), piperidine (III), and hexahydroazepine (IV), as well as N-methylisatin-anils (V), were studied. It is shown on the basis of the PMR spectra that I–IV exist in the anti form. In contrast to them, N-methylisatin-anils exist in the form of two spatial isomers. The rates and energy barriers of syn-anti isomerization in the molecules of these compounds were determined. On the basis of the data obtained it was established that isomerization at the C=N bond is realized via an inversion mechanism.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 2, pp. 225–227, February, 1978.

N-acetylindoxyl in the synthesis of new condensed heterocycles

Derivatives of a new heterocyclic system thieno[2,35,6]pyrimido[3,4-a]indole, were obtained by the reaction of substituted N,O-diacetylindoxyls with excess N-(2-methyl-3-ethoxycarbonyl-4-thienyl)hydrazine.
