Accelerator neutrino experiments: New results and perspectives

The current status of neutrino long-baseline accelerator experiments and new results obtained in these experiments are presented. Prospects for near-future program are also discussed. The text was submitted by the author in English.     

Interatomic Coulomb interaction influence on the superradiance phase transition

The phase transition to the superradiance state, when the Coulomb interactions between atoms exist, is considered. It is shown that transition temperature decreases and field value threshold increases. The display of this effects in the photon echo observation is discussed.     

The Coherent Production of the (K +π0) System by K + Beam on Copper Nuclei at the OKA Setup

The design of the TASD (totally active scintillator detector) prototype

Totally active and magnetic segmented scintillation neutrino detectors are developed for the nextgeneration accelerator neutrino experiments. Such detectors will incorporate scintillation modules with scintillation counters that form X and Y planes. A single counter is a 7 × 10 × 90 mm³ scintillation bar with gluedin wavelength-shifting fibers and micropixel avalanche photodiodes. The results of measurements of the parameters of these detectors are presented.

     

Search for T violation in the decays K+ → π0μ+ν and K+ → μ+νγ

Recent advances in a search for a T-violating transverse muon polarization in the decays K ⁺ → π ⁰ μ ⁺ ν and K ⁺ → μ ⁺ νγ in the on-going E246 experiment at KEK are reported. Test of exotic scalar and tensor interactions in K e3 decay using stopped positive kaons

The form factors of the decay K ⁺ → π ⁰ e ⁺ ν _e (K _e3) have been determined from the comparison of the experimental and Monte Carlo Dalitz distributions containing about 10⁵ K _e3 events. The following values of the parameters were obtained: λ ₊=0.0278±0.0017 (stat.)±0.0015 (syst.), |f _S/f ₊(0)|=0.0040±0.0160 (stat.)±0.0067 (syst.), and |f _T/f ₊(0)|=0.019±0.080 (stat.)±0.038 (syst.). Both scalar f _S and tensor f _T form factors are consistent with the Standard Model predictions of zero values.     

Results from the T2K experiment

The T2K (Tokai-to-Kamioka) experiment is a long baseline neutrino oscillation experiment designed to probe the θ ₁₃ neutrino mixing parameter by looking for the appearance of ν _e in an almost pure ν _μ beam. The concurrent measurement of the ν _μ disappearance allows refined measurements of the atmospheric Δm ² and θ ₂₃ mixing parameters.     

Investigation of neutrino oscillations in the T2k long-baseline accelerator experiment

High-sensitivity searches for transitions of muon neutrinos to electron neutrinos are the main task of the T2K (Tokai-to-Kamioka) second-generation long-baseline accelerator neutrino experiment. The present article is devoted to describing basic principles of T2K, surveying experimental apparatuses that it includes, and considering in detail the muon-range detector (SMRD) designed and manufactured by a group of physicists from the Institute of Nuclear Research (Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow). The results of the first measurements with a neutrino beam are presented, and plans for the near future are discussed.     

New search for T violation in the decays of the charged kaon

We report the results of the measurement of T-violating transverse muon polarization in the decays K ⁺→μ ⁺ ν _μ π ⁰ (K _μ3) and K ⁺→μ ⁺ ν _μ γ(K _μ2γ) performed in experiment E246 at KEK. The preliminary results obtained for the entire data set taken in the period 1996–2000 are consistent with no T violation in both decays.

     

New limit on the T-violating transverse muon polarization in K+-->pi0mu+nu decays

A search for T-violating transverse muon polarization (P(T)) in the K+-->pi(0)mu(+)nu decay was performed using kaon decays at rest. A new improved value P(T)=-0.0017+/-0.0023(stat)+/-0.0011(syst) was obtained giving an upper limit |P(T)|<0.0050. The T-violation parameter was determined to be Imxi=-0.0053+/-0.0071(stat)+/-0.0036(syst) giving an upper limit |Imxi|<0.016.
