The topological and geometrical properties of Voronoi cells generated for 2D fluid of hard disks with Ising-like spins near the second-order phase transition from the paramagnetic to ferromagnetic phase are described for different disk densities. The comparison with Voronoi cells generated for the random hard disk system is given. 相似文献

Correlation between structure and transport properties are investigated in high-quality single-crystals of Ca2Ru1−xCrxO4 with 0<x<0.14 using single crystal X-ray diffraction and by electronic studies. The parent compound was known to exhibit an intriguing first-order structurally driven metal-insulator (MI) transition at 357 K. Upon chromium doping on the ruthenium site, the metal-insulator transition temperature (TMI) was drastically reduced, and is related to the competition between structural changes that occur upon Cr doping and with decreasing temperature. A strong suppression of structural distortions with increasing Cr substitution was identified. No clear TMI can be observed when x>13.5% and the system behaves as an insulator. Such a large, sharp metal-insulator transition and tuneable transition temperature may have potential applications in electronic devices. 相似文献

We report an experimental/theoretical study of single-crystal Bi(2)Ir(2)O(7) that possesses a metallic state with strongly exchange-enhanced paramagnetism. The ground state of Bi(2)Ir(2)O(7) is characterized by the following features: (1) a divergent low-temperature magnetic susceptibility that indicates no long-range order down to 50?mK; (2) strongly field-dependent coefficients of the low-temperature T and T(3) terms of the specific heat; (3) a conspicuously large Wilson ratio R(W)?≈?53.5; and (4) unusual temperature and field dependences of the Hall resistivity that abruptly change below 80?K, without any clear correlation with the magnetic behavior. All these unconventional properties suggest the existence of an exotic ground state in Bi(2)Ir(2)O(7). 相似文献

The Valenta model of a thin ferromagnetic film in the critical region above the Curie point has been considered. Spatial and temperature dependence for spin correlation time and magnetic susceptibility has been obtained and discussed. The results have been generalized and expressions describing the behaviour of any physical quantity in more complicated models of a thin ferromagnetic film near the Curie temperature have been given. 相似文献

A three-dimensional semi-infinite system with strong uniaxial anisotropy ina transverse field is considered. The behaviour of the local autocorrelation time for the component of the order parameter in the direction parallel to the easy axis near the second-order phase transition for this component induced by the transverse field is given. The effect of the surface on this behaviour is discussed. The Landau approximation is used. 相似文献

Negative volume thermal expansion via orbital and magnetic orders in Ca₂Ru₁-(x)Cr(x)O₄(0 < x < 0.13)

Ca?RuO? undergoes a metal-insulator transition at T(MI)=357 K, followed by a well-separated transition to antiferromagnetic order at T(N)=110 K. Dilute Cr doping for Ru reduces the temperature of the orthorhombic distortion at T(MI) and induces ferromagnetic behavior at T(C). The lattice volume V of Ca?Ru?-(x)Cr(x)O? (0 < x < 0.13) abruptly expands with cooling at both T(MI) and T(C), giving rise to a total volume expansion ΔV/V ≈ 1%, which sharply contrasts the smooth temperature dependence of the few known examples of negative volume thermal expansion driven by anharmonic phonon modes. In addition, the near absence of volume thermal expansion between T(C) and T(MI) represents an Invar effect. The two phase transitions, which surprisingly mimic the classic freezing transition of water, suggest an exotic ground state driven by an extraordinary coupling between spin, orbit, and lattice degrees of freedom. 相似文献

The nearest-neighbour Ising model of a ferromagnetic film in which couplings between surface spins may differ from couplings between remaining spins is considered. Using the mean-field approximation, the local magnetic susceptibility defined as the derivative of the local magnetization with respect to the external uniform magnetic field is obtained. The behaviour of the local magnetic susceptibility near the ordinary, surface-bulk and surface phase transitions and in a range of temperatures where physical quantities have pseudocritical behaviour is discussed. The critical behaviour of the local magnetic susceptibility in a three-dimensional semi-infinite model is also given for comparison. 相似文献

The nearest-neighbour Ising model of a film in which exchange couplings in surface layers can differ from exchange couplings in other layers is considered. The dependence of the local autocorrelation time on distances to surfaces of the film, temperature and surface exchange couplings is discussed. The behaviour of the local autocorrelation time in a three-dimensional semi-infinite model is obtained assuming that the thickness of the film tends to infinity. 相似文献
