Inclusive two-jet production at HERA: direct and resolved cross sections in next-to-leading order QCD

We have calculated inclusive two-jet cross sections in next-to-leading order QCD for low Q ² ep collisions superimposing direct and resolved contributions. Infrared and collinear singularities in the virtual and real contributions are cancelled with the phase space slicing method. Various inclusive two-jet distributions have been computed. The results are compared with recent data from the ZEUS collaboration at HERA.

Excess Molar Volumes and Liquid–Liquid Equilibria of the Ionic Liquid 1-Methyl-3Octyl-Imidazolium Tetrafluoroborate Mixed with Butan-1-ol and Pentan-1-ol

Experimental densities were measured for the system 1-methyl-3-octyl-imidazolium tetrafluoroborate [OMIM][BF₄] + butan-1-ol, + pentan-1-ol at 298.15 K and ambient pressure using a vibrating tube densimeter, taking into account the influence of the viscosity correction. Excess molar volumes V^E have been determined. V^E is quite small and negative in the alcohol-rich range of the mixture composition and positive in the alcohol-poor range. LLE data of [OMIM][BF₄] + pentan-1-ol have been measured using a laser light scattering cell for detecting cloud points at different compositions in the temperature range of 282–292 K. A miscibility gap with an upper critical solution temperature (UCST) of 292 K has been found.     

Limit on right handed weak coupling parameters from inelastic neutrino interactions

Right handed weak quark currents coupled to the usual left handed weak lepton current would be seen in inclusive antineutrino scattering on nuclei as a contribution at largey with the quark (not antiquark) structure function. We do not see such a term, and can therefore put an upper limit on the relative strengths of such right handed currents: \(\varrho ^2 = \frac{{\sigma _R }}{{\sigma _L }}< 0.009\) , 90% confidence. This measurement puts limits on the mixing angle of left-right symmetric models. In distinction to similar limits derived from muon decay or β decay, our limits are also valid if the right handed neutrino is heavy.     

Joint resummation for gaugino pair production at hadron colliders

We calculate direct gaugino pair production at hadron colliders at next-to-leading order of perturbative QCD, resumming simultaneously large logarithms in the small transverse-momentum and threshold regions to next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy. Numerical predictions are presented for transverse momentum and invariant mass spectra as well as for total cross sections and compared to results obtained at fixed order and with pure transverse-momentum and threshold resummation. We find that our new results are in general in good agreement with the previous ones, but often even more precise.     

Inclusive dijet production at HERA: direct photon cross sections in next-to-leading order QCD

We have calculated inclusive two-jet cross sections in next-to-leading order QCD for direct photo-production in lowQ ² ep collisions at HERA. Infrared and collinear singularities in real and virtual contributions are cancelled with the phase space slicing method. Analytical formulas for the different contributions giving the dependence on the slicing parameter are presented. Various one and two-jet distributions have been computed demonstrating the flexibility of the method.     

Copper(II) complexes of sulfanilamide derivates

Summary Nine different Cu^II(sulf)₂ and three mixed Cu^II(sulf)₂X_2–3 (X=NH₃ or pyridine) derivatives were prepared from Cu^II and sulfanilamides (sulfH=sulfadiazine, sulfadimethoxine, sulfadimidine, sulfamerazine, sulfamethoxydiazine, sulfamethoxypyridazine, sulfapyridine, sulfathiazole and sulfisomidine) in alkaline solution and their e.s.r., i.r. and ligandfield spectroscopic properties were evaluated. Two types of Cu(sulf)₂ complexes were formed: dimeric and monomeric/ polymeric species.     

Suppression factors in diffractive photoproduction of dijets

Now that new publications of H1 data for the diffractive photoproduction of dijets, which overlap with the earlier published H1 data and the recently published data of the ZEUS collaboration, have appeared, we have recalculated the cross sections for this process in next-to-leading order (NLO) of perturbative QCD to see whether they can be interpreted consistently. The results of these calculations are compared to the data of both collaborations. We find that the NLO cross sections disagree with the data, showing that factorization breaking occurs at that order. If direct and resolved contributions are both suppressed by the same amount, the global suppression factor depends on the transverse-energy cut. However, by suppressing only the resolved contribution, also reasonably good agreement with all the data is found with a suppression factor independent of the transverse-energy cut.
