We study Burgers Equation perturbed by a white noise in space and time. We prove the existence of solutions by showing that the Cole-Hopf transformation is meaningful also in the stochastic case. The problem is thus reduced to the anaylsis of a linear equation with multiplicativehalf white noise. An explicit solution of the latter is constructed through a generalized Feynman-Kac formula. Typical properties of the trajectories are then discussed. A technical result, concerning the regularizing effect of the convolution with the heat kernel, is proved for stochastic integrals.  相似文献

We propose a model to describe a gas of pyramidal molecules interacting via dipole-dipole interactions. The interaction modifies the tunneling properties between the classical equilibrium configurations of the single molecule and, for sufficiently high pressure, the molecules become localized in these classical configurations. We explain quantitatively, without free parameters, the shift to zero frequency of the inversion line observed upon increase of the pressure in a gas of ammonia or deuterated ammonia. For sufficiently high pressures, our model suggests the existence of a super-selection rule for states of different chirality in substituted derivatives.  相似文献

Using a simple model for nonlinear Landau-Zener tunneling between two energy bands of a Bose-Einstein condensate in a periodic potential, we find that the tunneling rates for the two directions of tunneling are not the same. Tunneling from the ground state to the excited state is enhanced by the nonlinearity, whereas in the opposite direction it is suppressed. These findings are confirmed by numerical simulations of the condensate dynamics. Measuring the tunneling rates for a condensate of rubidium atoms in an optical lattice, we have found experimental evidence for this asymmetry.  相似文献

We study current fluctuations in lattice gases in the macroscopic limit extending the dynamic approach for density fluctuations developed in previous articles. More precisely, we establish a large deviation principle for a space-time fluctuation j of the empirical current with a rate functional I(j). We then estimate the probability of a fluctuation of the average current over a large time interval; this probability can be obtained by solving a variational problem for the functional I. We discuss several possible scenarios, interpreted as dynamical phase transitions, for this variational problem. They actually occur in specific models. We finally discuss the time reversal properties of I and derive a fluctuation relationship akin to the Gallavotti-Cohen theorem for the entropy production.  相似文献

We analyze several aspects of a reaction-diffusion equation in two space dimensions with cubic nonlinearity, stochastically perturbed by white noise in time and in space. This equation needs renormalization, and physical implications of this circumstance are discussed. In particular, for sufficiently large coupling constant the effective potential becomes a double well and rare transitions from one minimum to the other are possible. These, however, are revealed only by large-scale fluctuations which exhibit a bimodal distribution. Fluctuations below a critical scale have unimodal distribution and do not see the double well. This phenomenon is connected with the singular character of local fluctuations in two or more space dimensions. The theoretical results are confirmed by numerical simulations. The possible physical relevance of our results is illustrated in connection with the analysis of certain observations of atmospheric fields.  相似文献

We present a review of recent work on the statistical mechanics of non equilibrium processes based on the analysis of large deviations properties of microscopic systems. Stochastic lattice gases are non trivial models of such phenomena and can be studied rigorously providing a source of challenging mathematical problems. In this way, some principles of wide validity have been obtained leading to interesting physical consequences.  相似文献

We formulate a dynamical fluctuation theory for stationary non-equilibrium states (SNS) which is tested explicitly in stochastic models of interacting particles. In our theory a crucial role is played by the time reversed dynamics. Within this theory we derive the following results: the modification of the Onsager–Machlup theory in the SNS; a general Hamilton–Jacobi equation for the macroscopic entropy; a non-equilibrium, nonlinear fluctuation dissipation relation valid for a wide class of systems; an H theorem for the entropy. We discuss in detail two models of stochastic boundary driven lattice gases: the zero range and the simple exclusion processes. In the first model the invariant measure is explicitly known and we verify the predictions of the general theory. For the one dimensional simple exclusion process, as recently shown by Derrida, Lebowitz, and Speer, it is possible to express the macroscopic entropy in terms of the solution of a nonlinear ordinary differential equation; by using the Hamilton–Jacobi equation, we obtain a logically independent derivation of this result.  相似文献

We demonstrate the operation of an atom interferometer based on a weakly interacting Bose-Einstein condensate. We strongly reduce the interaction induced decoherence that usually limits interferometers based on trapped condensates by tuning the s-wave scattering length almost to zero via a magnetic Feshbach resonance. We employ a 39K condensate trapped in an optical lattice, where Bloch oscillations are forced by gravity. The fine-tuning of the scattering length down to 0.1 a_(0) and the micrometric sizes of the atomic sample make our system a very promising candidate for measuring forces with high spatial resolution. Our technique can be in principle extended to other measurement schemes opening new possibilities in the field of trapped atom interferometry.  相似文献
