Synthesis and crystal structure of bis(di-n-butyldithiocarbamato)(1,10-phenanthroline)cadmium(II)

A new mixed-ligand complex, Cd(S₂CN(C₄H₉)₂)₂Phen, is synthesized and investigated by thermal, element, and IR analyses and by diffractometry of polycrystals (DRON-3M, CuK_α radiation, Ni filter). The crystal structure was determined on a CAD-4 Enraf-Nonius automatic diffractometer (MoK_α radiation, θ from 1.5 to 25?, 2325 nonzero independent reflections, 190 refined parameters, R = 0.036 for I > 2Σ(I)). Crystal data for C₃₀H₄₄CdN₄S₄ : a = 15.592(3), b = 22.724(5), c = 9.922(2) å, space group Pbcn, V = 3515.5(12) å₃, Z = 4, M = 701.33, d_calc = 1.325 g/cm³. The structure involves monomeric molecules in which the cadmium atom has a distorted octahedral environment.     

Synchronization Analysis of Coupled Noncoherent Oscillators

We present two different approaches to detect and quantify phase synchronization in the case of coupled non-phase coherent oscillators. The first one is based on the general idea of curvature of an arbitrary curve. The second one is based on recurrences of the trajectory in phase space. We illustrate both methods in the paradigmatic example of the R?ssler system in the funnel regime. We show that the second method is applicable even in the case of noisy data. Furthermore, we extend the second approach to the application of chains of coupled systems, which allows us to detect easily clusters of synchronized oscillators. In order to illustrate the applicability of this approach, we show the results of the algorithm applied to experimental data from a population of 64 electrochemical oscillators.     

Associated φΛ0 production in the EXCHARM experiment

The features of the associated production of φ mesons with Λ⁰ hyperons in neutron-carbon interactions were investigated. The experiment was performed with the aid of the EXCHARM spectrometer at the Serpukhov accelerator in a neutron beam of energy in the interval 20–70 GeV. The differential cross section for inclusive associated φΛ⁰ production was measured.     

Influence of cobalt(III) dimethyldithiocarbamate complexes on styrene polymerization initiated by tert-butyl perbenzoate

Kinetic features of radical polymerization of styrene initiated by tert-butyl perbenzoate in the presence of tris(N,N-dimethyldithiocarbamato)cobalt(III) (CoL₃) and its adduct with iodine (CoL₃ · 2I₂) were studied. The optimal concentration ratios of the activators and tert-butyl perbenzoate, providing fast styrene polymerization at 338–368 K, were determined.     

Radiative decays of ρ and ω mesons

The results of the measurements of radiative decays of ρ and ω mesons with the Neutral Detector at thee ⁺ e ^? collider VEPP-2M are presented. The branching ratio of the decay ω→π ⁰γ was measured with higher than in previous experiments accuracy: $${\rm B}(\omega \to \pi ^0 \gamma ) = 0.0888 \pm 0.0062$$ . The ρ⁰→π ⁰ γ branching ratio was measured for the first time: $$B(\rho ^0 \to \pi ^0 \gamma ) = (7.9 \pm 2.0) \cdot 10^{ - 4} $$ . The decays ρ, ω→ηγ were studied. Their branching ratios with the assumption of constructive ρ?ω interference are: $$\begin{gathered} B(\omega \to \eta \gamma ) = (7.3 \pm 2.9) \cdot 10^{ - 4} , \hfill \\ B(\rho \to \eta \gamma ) = (4.0 \pm 1.1) \cdot 10^{ - 4} \hfill \\ \end{gathered} $$ . The branching ratios of ρ, ω→ηγ and ω→e ⁺ e ^? decays were also measured: $$\begin{gathered} B(\omega \to \pi ^ + \pi ^ - \pi ^0 ) = 0.8942 \pm 0.0062, \hfill \\ B(\omega \to e^ + e^ - ) = (7.14 \pm 0.36) \cdot 10^{ - 5} \hfill \\ \end{gathered} $$ . The upper limit for the ω→π ⁰ π ⁰ γ branching ratio was placed: B(ω→π ⁰ π ⁰ γ)<4·10^?4 at 90% confidence level.     

On the mechanism of vanillin formation in the catalytic oxidation of lignin with oxygen

The influence of catalyst (CuSO₄ solution), pH and temperature on the vanillin formation and oxygen consumption in oxidation of lignin in alkaline media have been studied. It was shown that the main role of catalyst in the lignin oxidation is to change the selectivity of hydroperoxide fragmentation rather than to accelerate oxidation.
