Based on the separability of the Helmholtz equation into elliptical cylindrical coordinates, we present another class of invariant optical fields that may have a highly localized distribution along one of the transverse directions and a sharply peaked quasi-periodic structure along the other. These fields are described by the radial and angular Mathieu functions. We identify the corresponding function in the McCutchen sphere that produces this kind of beam and propose an experimental setup for the realization of an invariant optical field. 相似文献

We propagate two coherent and parallel beams of a He-Ne laser through a Bi(12)TiO(20) photorefractive crystal in the presence of drift nonlinearity. Our experimental results demonstrate that the beams attract or repel each other according to their initial phase difference. They attract each other when they are initially in phase and they repel each other when they are initially out of phase. These experimental results agree with numerical predictions recently published. 相似文献

Experimental observations of 1D and 2D self-focusing in a BaTiO3 crystal under externally DC applied electric field are reported. Stationary self-focusing behaviour can be obtained with and without additional uniform illumination. 相似文献

We report what we believe to be the first experimental observation of a large spatial lateral shift in the interaction of obliquely oriented spatial dark-soliton stripes. We demonstrate by numerical simulations that this new effect can be attributed to the specific features of optical media with a nonlocal nonlinear response. 相似文献

We report on the photoinduced anisotropy in the holographic recording in spiropyran doped polymers as a result of the photoizomerization of spiropyran into merocyanine. Photoizomerization is achieved with UV polarized light ( = 355 nm) from the third harmonic of Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. After UV illumination a strong and broad polarization-dependent absorption peak centered 600 nm appears. Absorption holograms were recorded with low power He–Ne lasers with 2.2% output diffraction efficiency for polarization parallel to the polarization of the UV laser. The extremely long lifetime of the merocyanine states (12 days in the dark) and their high resolution makes this material promising as an optical memory element. 相似文献
