In a cylindrical-beam plasma system with ω_pe < ω_ce, large-amplitude (W/nT ～ 1) bursts of spatially localized (length ～λ/2) electron plasma waves are observed to be correlated with accelerated background electrons and an increase in the luminosity of the plasma.     

Simple Zeros of the Riemann Zeta-Function

Assuming the Riemann Hypothesis, Montgomery showed by meansof his pair correlation method that at least two-thirds of thezeros of Riemann's zeta-function are simple. Later he and Taylorimproved this to 67.25 percent and, more recently, Cheer andGoldston increased the percentage to 67.2753. Here we proveby a new method that if the Riemann and Generalized LindelöofHypotheses hold, then at least 70.3704 percent of the zerosare simple and at least 84.5679 percent are distinct. Dihydro-3-thioxo-3H-1.2-dithiolo[4.3-d]pyrimidin-5(4H)-ones and dihydro-3H-1.2-dithiolo[4.3-d]pyrimidin-3,5(4H)-dithiones

Dihydro-3-thioxo-3H-1.2-dithiolo[4.3-d]pyrimidine-5(4H)-ones (2) give on methylation 4-methylderivatives (2) and tetrahydro-3-methylthio-5-oxodithiolopyrimidinium salts (6) resp.; from dithiones (3) arise 5-methylthio-resp. 5-methylthio-4-methylderivatives (4) resp. tetrahydro-3-methylthio-5-thioxo-dithiolopyrimidinium salts (6). Peracetic acid converts2 to tetrahydrodithiolopyrimidinium hydrogensulphate10. 2 and3, resp. give with phenylhydrazine 3-phenylhydrazones. Tetrahydro-3-methylthiodithiolopyrimidiniumiodides (6) react with amines in presence ofHMPT to 3-iminocompounds.10 gives with methyl ketones and hydrogen acceptors 3-acylmethylendihydro-dithiolopyrimidine-5(4H)-ones.

Die Mikro-Molekulargewichtsbestimmung gelöster Substanzen durch Dampfdruckmessung

Zusammenfassung Die bereits beschriebene Methode zur Molekulargewichtsbestimmung durch Dampfdruckmessung konnte in apparativer Hinsicht weiter verbessert werden. Durch Anwendung eines verkürzten, nur Dampfdruckdifferenzen anzeigenden Manometers ergab sich eine einfachere und leichter zu handhabende Apparatur. Die Genauigkeit der Bestimmung und der Anwendungsbereich der Methode haben sich nicht geändert. Die Dauer einer Bestimmung im Serienbetrieb beträgt zirka 20 Minuten.

Summary The method previously described for determining the molecular weight through the vapor pressure was further improved from the apparative side. By using a shortened manometer, which indicates merely differences in vapor pressure, there resulted an apparatus which was more simple and easier to manipulate. The accuracy of the determination and the range of application were not affected. If series determinations are run, a single determination consumes around 20 minutes.

Résumé La méthode antérieurement décrite pour la détermination des masses moléculaires par mesure de tension de vapeur a été améliorée quant à l'appareillage correspondant. L'emploi d'un manomètre plus court n'indiquant que les différences de tensions de vapeur a permis de réaliser un appareil plus simple et plus facile à manipuler. La précision de la méthode et son domaine d'emploi n'ont pas varié. La durée d'une détermination incluse dans une série est d'environ 20 minutes.
