Schemes for preparation of W-and GHZ-class states from atoms and atomic ensembles

Independent systems, each containing an atomic ensemble entangled through the interaction with its own photon, can be, in turn, entangled in the course of measurements. Schemes for preparing states of the W and Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) classes with the use of projective measurements of light that include three-photon parametric interactions are proposed and analyzed.     

Magnetoacoustic and Alfven waves excited by plasma cloud expansion in cold magnetized plasma

The propagation of Alfven and magnetoacoustic waves in a cold magnetized plasma to great distances from the expanding plasma cloud that is the source of these waves is investigated. Allowance is made for back-ground-plasma permittivity anisotropy, which leads to Alfven-and magnetoacoustic-wave interaction and channeling along the external magnetic field.Moscow Engineering-Physics Institute. Effect of radon on SAGE results

A method for estimating the systematic uncertainty associated with radon in the SAGE experiment¹⁾ aimed at observing the solar-neutrino flux is described. For the gallium target used in this experiment, the systematic uncertainty in the measured neutrino-capture rate of 75 SNU²⁾ is below 0.3 SNU.     

Proper determination of order of reactions by thermal analysis

The relationship 1– _m=1.062n ^1/1–n , well-known in non-isothermal kinetics and applied for determination of the kinetic exponentn, is not universal. A more accurate modification of the given equation is proposed in the form of a more complex function 1– _m=(n, X_m), whereX _m =E/RT _m is the dimensionless Arrhenius' criterion.     

Potential and Current Distributions in Chlorine Diaphragm Electrolyzers with Gas Removal from the Back Side of External Electrodes and Possibility of Electrolysis Intensification

The cell voltage balance components of monopolar and bipolar electrolyzers were analyzed on the basis of calculations in terms of a mathematical model of the potential and current distributions along the cell height and tests of a laboratory electrolyzer of industrial height. Ways to diminish energy expenditure and to intensify diaphragm electrolysis of aqueous sodium chloride solutions were substantiated theoretically and experimentally.     

Non-steady-state diffusion in programmed heating

The utilization, for programmed heating, of Fick's second equation concerning non-steady-state diffusion is discussed. Methods for calculating the activation energy of the diffusion process and the factorD ₀ of the Arrhenius equation from a single non-isothermal experiment are suggested.     

Adsorption-induced Depression of the Strength of Potassium Chloride Grains under the Action of Fatty Amines and Water

The surface activity of higher aliphatic amines and their salts at the interface between their solutions and air, oil, and KCl grains and their influence on the strength characteristics, moisture absorption, and caking of the grains were studied.     

Effects of plasmonic absorption of terahertz radiation in silica nanocomposite doped with erbium silicate

This paper studies terahertz transmission spectra of silicon and erbium silicides which can be used to create uncooled bolometers for terahertz frequency domain.     

Effective constitutive relations for inelastic composites

The first special boundary value problem in the mechanics of deformable solids is considered to derive the effective constitutive relations for a heterogeneous inelastic body. The problem is reduced to a number of auxiliary boundary value problems for functions dependent on the shape of the body and on the form of constitutive relations. In the case of a layer of nonuniform thickness, the problem of finding the effective constitutive relations is reduced to an operator equation whose solution is sought by an iterative method of successive approximations. An approximate analytical formula is proposed to find the effective constitutive relations for a laminated composite on the basis of known inelastic constitutive relations for its components. This approximate formula takes into account the character of structural anisotropy in a laminated composite and, in the elastic case, yields the exact values of the effective elastic modulus.
