In two-dimensional conformational analysis the current practice is to perform an energy minimization for all possible combinations of two dihedral angles in the molecule, in a fixed order, and apply a certain dihedral angle step-size. A newly developed method is presented in which the order of the evaluation points on the energy-surface is not fixed, but is dependent on all previous results in a way which we call “the method of prudent ascent.” In this method the most promising calculation is carried out first, thus minimizing the risk of atomic collisions. In order to be able to take care of the many additional degrees of conformational freedom present in, e.g., carbohydrate molecules, all minimizations are performed using a set of different promising starting conformations on the basis of previous calculations, and only the lowest energy result for each point is saved. An application of the method to conformational analysis of methyl-cellobiose and the artificial sweetener trichlorogalactosucrose is also presented. 相似文献

The scope of a stereoselective three-step approach for the synthesis of sugar derived spiroketals is presented. The methodology consists of Grignard addition of vinyl- or allylmagnesium bromide to a carbohydrate lactone, followed by K-10 clay mediated glycosidation with a terminal alkenol and subsequent ring-closing metathesis of the resulting diene. The generality of this procedure is demonstrated by the synthesis of various pyranose- and furanose-derived spiroketals, as well as more advanced tricyclic spiroketal derivatives. It is shown that functionalisation of the double bond in the resulting spiroketals leads to fused polycyclic ethers. 相似文献

Based on previous work we show how to join two Schwarzschild solutions, possibly with different masses, along null cylinders each representing a spherical shell of infalling or outgoing massless matter. One of the Schwarzschild masses can be zero, i.e. one region can be flat. The above procedure can be repeated to produce space-times with aC
0 metric describing several different (possibly flat) Schwarzschild regions separated by shells of matter. An exhaustive treatment of the ways of combining four such regions is given; the extension to many regions is then straightforward. Cases of special interest are: (1) the scattering of two spherical gravitational shock waves at the horizon of a Schwarzschild black hole, and (2) a configuration involving onlyone external universe, which may be relevant to quantization problems in general relativity. Quantum field theories with strong interactions are usually required to be not only renormalizable but also asymptotically free, in order to avoid diseases such as the Landau ghost. In this paper we suggest an even more restrictive requirement: “asymptotic convergence”, which means that at high energies it must be possible to formulate a convergent resummation procedure for the perturbation expansion. Such a convergent resummation technique exists in QCD in the infinite color limit (N → ∞). We give an outline of a proof of this statement, and a brief account of possible consequences of our asymptotic convergence condition on model building. 相似文献

A practical gram-scale and high-yielding synthesis of the antimicrobial peptide gramicidin S is presented. An Fmoc-based solid-phase peptide synthesis protocol is employed for the generation of the linear decapeptide precursor, which is cyclized in solution to afford the target compound. Superstring theory is an extension of conventional quantum field theory that allows for stringlike and branelike material objects besides pointlike particles. The basic foundations on which the theory is built are amazingly shaky, and, equally amazingly, it seems to be this lack of solid foundations to which the theory owes its strength. We emphasize that such a situation is legitimate only in the development phases of a new doctrine. Eventually, a more solidly founded structure must be sought. Although it is advertised as a “candidate theory of quantum gravity”, we claim that string theory may not be exactly that. Rather, just like quantum field theory itself, it is a general mathematical framework for a class of theories. Its major flaw could be that it still embraces a Copenhagen view on the relation between quantum mechanics and reality, while any “theory of everything”, that is, a theory for the entire cosmos, should do better than that. 相似文献
