We show that the XYZ spin chain along the special line of couplings J x J y +J x J z +J y J z =0 possesses a hidden N=(2,2)\mathcal{N}=(2,2) supersymmetry. This lattice supersymmetry is non-local and changes the number of sites. It extends to the full transfer matrix of the corresponding eight-vertex model. In particular, it is shown how to derive the supercharges from Baxter’s Bethe ansatz. This analysis leads to new conjectures concerning the ground state for chains of odd length. We also discuss a correspondence between the spectrum of this XYZ chain and that of a manifestly supersymmetric staggered fermion chain.  相似文献

We develop a unified theoretical framework for the anisotropic Kondo model and the boundary sine-Gordon model. They are both boundary integrable quantum field theories with a quantum-group spin at the boundary which takes values, respectively, in standard or cyclic representations of the quantum groupSU(2) q. This unification is powerful, and allows us to find new results for both models. For the anisotropic Kondo problem, we find exact expressions (in the presence of a magnetic field) for all the coefficients in the Anderson-Yuval perturbative expansion. Our expressions hold initially in the very anisotropic regime, but we show how to continue them beyond the Toulouse point all the way to the isotropic point using an analog of dimensional regularization. The analytic structure is transparent, involving only simple poles which we determine exactly, together with their residues. For the boundary sine-Gordon model, which describes an impurity in a Luttinger liquid, we find the nonequilibrium conductance for all values of the Luttinger coupling. This is an intricate computation because the voltage operator and the boundary scattering do not commute with each other.  相似文献

Thermodynamic Bethe ansatz equations are coupled nonlinear integral equations which appear frequently when solving integrable models. Those associated with models with N=2 supersymmetry can be related to differential equations, among them Painlevé III and the Toda hierarchy. In the simplest such case, the massless limit of these nonlinear integral equations can be solved in terms of the Airy function. This is the only known closed-form solution of thermodynamic Bethe ansatz equations, outside of free or classical models. This turns out to give the spectral determinant of the Schrödinger equation in a linear potential.  相似文献

We introduce lattice models with explicit N=2 supersymmetry. In these interacting models, the supersymmetry generators Q+/- yield the Hamiltonian H=(Q(+),Q(-)) on any graph. The degrees of freedom can be described as either fermions with hard cores, or as quantum dimers; the Hamiltonian of our simplest model contains a hopping term and a repulsive potential. We analyze these models using conformal field theory, the Bethe ansatz, and cohomology. The simplest model provides a manifestly supersymmetric lattice regulator for the supersymmetric point of the massless (1+1)-dimensional Thirring (Luttinger) model. Generalizations include a quantum monomer-dimer model on a two-leg ladder.  相似文献

We discuss the unusual critical behavior of a generalized XY model containing both 2π-periodic and π-periodic couplings between sites, allowing for ordinary vortices and half-vortices. The phase diagram of this system includes both single-particle condensate and pair-condensate phases. Using a field theoretic formulation and worm algorithm Monte?Carlo simulations, we show that in two dimensions it is possible for the system to pass directly from the disordered (high temperature) phase to the single particle (quasi)condensate via an Ising transition, a situation reminiscent of the "deconfined criticality" scenario.  相似文献

We study a model of strongly correlated electrons on the square lattice which exhibits charge frustration and quantum critical behavior. The potential is tuned to make the interactions supersymmetric. We establish a rigorous mathematical result which relates quantum ground states to certain tiling configurations on the square lattice. For periodic boundary conditions this relation implies that the number of ground states grows exponentially with the linear dimensions of the system. We present substantial analytic and numerical evidence that for open boundary conditions the system has gapless edge modes.  相似文献

We solve exactly the “boundary sine-Gordon” system of a massless scalar field with a potential at a boundary. This model has appeared in several contexts, including tunneling between quantum-Hall edge states and in dissipative quantum mechanics. For β2 < 8π, this system exhibits a boundary renormalization-group flow from Neumann to Dirichlet boundary conditions. By taking the massless limit of the sine-Gordon model with boundary potential, we find the exact S-matrix for particles scattering off the boundary. Using the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz, we calculate the boundary entropy along the entire flow. We show how these particles correspond to wave packets in the classical Klein-Gordon equation, thus giving a more precise explanation of scattering in a massless theory.  相似文献

The general one-dimensional log-sine gas is defined by restricting the positive and negative charges of a two-dimensional Coulomb gas to live on a circle. Depending on charge constrannts, this problem is equivalent to different boundary field theories.We study the electrically neutral case, which is equivalent to a two-dimensional free boson with an impurity cosine potential. We use two different methods: a perturbative one based on Jack symmetric functions, and a nonperturbative one based on the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz and functional relations. The first method allows us to find an explicit series expression for all coefficients in the virial expansion of the free energy and the experimentally measurable conductance. Some results for correlation functions are also presented. The second method gives an expression for the full free energy, which yields a surprising fluctuation-dissipation relation between the conductance and the free energy.  相似文献
