Apoptosis in tongue squamous cell carcinoma and its correlation with clinically occult cervical metastasis

Squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue is one of the most common head and neck cancer. Treatment in the early stages is still controversial. This study aims to correlate the apoptosis rate of primary tongue cancer with cervical node metastasis, found in the histopathological studies of specimens obtained from neck dissections or during clinical follow-up. Twenty patients, 65% males, mean age 64.5 years, without clinical evidence of cervical metastasis was included. Eighty-five percent were smokers and 40% were alcohol abusers. Kinetics of the electrodissolution of metallic uranium

The kinetics of the anodic dissolution of metallic uranium in 1, 2, 3, and 4 mol^.l^-1 HNO₃ solutions at 30 °C were studied by potentiostatic polarization. The dissolved uranium was determined by polarography and the anodic dissolution rates by the initial rate method. It was observed that the dissolution rate increases with the applied potential, but is independent of the HNO₃ concentration, because it is a zero order reaction. A mechanism for the anodic reaction was proposed based on the adsorption theory.     

Semiclassical limit for Chern-Simons theory on compact hyperbolic spaces

The invariant integration method for Chern-Simons theory defined on compact hyperbolic spaces of the form Γℍ³ is verified in the semiclassical approximation. Background  

Considerable research has been directed towards the roles of metal ions in nutrition with metal ion toxicity attracting particular attention. The aim of this study is to measure the levels of metal ions found in selected beverages (red wine, stout and apple juice) and to determine their potential detrimental effects via calculation of the Target Hazard Quotients (THQ) for 250 mL daily consumption.
