Vacuum stability in Nambu-Jona-Lasinio models

In Nambu-Jona-Lasinio models for a dynamical breakdown of chiral symmetry, unrenormalized divergences hinder a direct comparison of vacuum energies of different solutions. The choice of a stable vacuum in the presence of several solutions to the equations for fermion masses can nevertheless be performed since, for unstable states, tachyons appear in the spectrum of composite scalar bosons.     

Features of the foaming of acrylamide-acrylic acid copolymers

The processes that occur during the processing and foaming of thermosetting composites based on a random copolymer of acrylamide and acrylic acid—softening, foaming, and curing of the copolymer—are studied with the use of methods of chemical kinetics, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and thermomechanical analysis. The above processes are coordinated with respect to time and temperature; prognostic methods for calculating the dynamics of these processes and the properties of foam materials as functions of the composition of the original foam-forming composite and the foaming conditions are proposed.     

Quasi-Normal Modes and Exponential Energy Decay for the Kerr-de Sitter Black Hole

We provide a rigorous definition of quasi-normal modes for a rotating black hole. They are given by the poles of a certain meromorphic family of operators and agree with the heuristic definition in the physics literature. If the black hole rotates slowly enough, we show that these poles form a discrete subset of \mathbb C{\mathbb C} . As an application we prove that the local energy of linear waves in that background decays exponentially once orthogonality to the zero resonance is imposed.     

Confinement and properties of vacuum states in two-dimensional electrodynamics of massless quarks

Connections between the properties of vacuum states and the confinement phenomenon are investigated for QED₂.

Abnormally slow reaction of oppositely charged ions: The kinetics of dopamine hydrochloride oxidation by ammonium peroxydisulfate

The kinetic curves for oxidation of dopamine hydrochloride in aqueous solution in the presence of ammonium peroxydisulfate were obtained by UV–vis spectroscopy and potentiometry. It was shown that the reaction follows the first-order kinetic equation and proceeds at a low rate. The values for the activation energy and the preexponential factor were determined as 75 kJ × mol⁻¹ and 4 × 10⁸ s⁻¹, respectively. The activation entropy was found having a negative value of −89 J × mol⁻¹ × K⁻¹. The first reaction order, the low preexponential factor and the negative activation entropy value for the reaction between the 2-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)ethanammonium cation and the peroxydisulfate anion were explained by the formation of ionic associates, which slowly enter into the internal redox reaction.
