Measurements of the transmission of XeCl excimer laser pulses (308 nm) through optical all-silica fibers are reported. The observed photodegradation effects during long time irradiation are dependent on the laser energy density and the laser repetition rate. Also the influence of the fiber drawing parameters and fiber geometry have been investigated. Absorption spectra of the fibers in the wavelength range from 200nm to 400nm before and after the irradiation with the excimer laser give some insight in the physical reasons for the changes in transmission properties. Previous kinetic and electrochemical studies of copper complexes with macrocyclic tetrathiaethers-such as 1,4,8,11-tetrathiacyclotetradecane ([14]aneS4)-have indicated that electron transfer and the accompanying conformational change occur sequentially to give rise to a dual-pathway mechanism. Under appropriate conditions, the conformational change itself may become rate-limiting, a condition known as "gated" electron transfer. We have recently hypothesized that the controlling conformational change involves inversion of two donor atoms, which suggests that "gated" behavior should be affected by appropriate steric constraints. In the current work, two derivatives of [14]aneS4 have been synthesized in which one of the ethylene bridges has been replaced by either cis- or trans-1,2-cyclopentane. The resulting copper systems have been characterized in terms of their Cu(II/I)L potentials, the stabilities of their oxidized and reduced complexes, and their crystal structures. The electron self-exchange rate constants have been determined both by NMR line-broadening and by kinetic measurements of their rates of reduction and oxidation with six or seven counter reagents. All studies have been carried out at 25 degrees C, mu = 0.10 M (NaClO4 and/or Cu(ClO4)2), in aqueous solution. Both Cu(II/I) systems show evidence of a dual-pathway mechanism, and the electron self-exchange rate constants representative of both mechanistic pathways have been determined. The first-order rate constant for gated behavior has also been resolved for the Cu(I)(trans-cyclopentane-[14]aneS4) complex, but only a limiting value can be established for the corresponding cis-cyclopentane system. The rate constants for both systems investigated in this work are compared to values previously determined for the Cu(II/I) systems with the parent [14]aneS4 macrocycle and its derivatives involving phenylene and cis- or trans-cyclohexane substituents. The results are discussed in terms of the influence of the fused rings on the probable conformational changes accompanying the electron-transfer process.  相似文献

Formation of Organosilicon Compounds. 70. Reactions of Si-fluorinated 1,3,5-Trisilapentanes with CH3MgCl and LiCH3 F3Si? CCl2? SiF2? CH2? SiF3 3 reacts with meMgCl. (me = Ch3 starting with a Si-methylation and not with a C-metallation as in the corresponding Si- and C-chlorinated compounds, e. g. (Cl3Si? CCl2)2SiCl2 [2]. A CCl-hydrogenation is observed too, which in the case of F3Si? CCl2? SiF2? CHCl? SiF3 4 gives meS3Si? CCl2? Sime2? CH2? Sime3. (F3Si? CCl2)2 5 reacts with meMgCl to form preferentially 1,2-Disilapropanes by cleaving a Si? Cbond. The isolation of F3Si? CCl2H and meF2Si? CCl2? SiF2me allows to locate the bond where 5 is cleaved at the beginning of the reaction. With meLi 5 reacts to form mainly me3Si? C?C? Sime3, showing that in the reaction of meLi, being a stronger reagent than meMgCl, and 5 a C-metallation occurs, following the same mechanism as in the reaction with (Cl3Si? CCl2)2)SiCl2 [2]. The reaction conditions for the synthesis of Si-fluroinated and C-chlorinated 1,3,5-Trisilapentanes in a 0.1 mol scale are reported. N.m.r. data of all investigated compounds are tabulated.  相似文献

The highly charged nanocontainer capsule of the type [pentagon]12[linker]30 identical with [(Mo)Mo5O21(H2O)6]12[Mo2O4(SO4)]30 with 20 nanosized pores and channels allows the entrance of cations like Pr3+: the latter are positioned at two different sites and have two different coordination shells, corresponding to a coordination chemistry under confined conditions; a fascinating aspect is that capsule encapsulated water shells fixed by hydrogen bonds act formally as polydentate ligands.  相似文献

We present an experimental and theoretical investigation of a variant of electroconvection using an unusual nematic liquid crystal in an isotropic configuration (homeotropic alignment). The significance of the system is a direct transition to the convecting state due to the negative conductivity anisotropy and positive dielectric anisotropy. We observe at onset rolls or squares depending on the frequency and amplitude of the applied ac voltage with a strong signature of the zigzag instability. Good agreement with calculations based on the underlying hydrodynamic theory is found. We also construct an extended Swift-Hohenberg model which allows us to capture complex patterns like squares with a quasiperiodic modulation.  相似文献

A transverse optical plasma mode is observed at far-infrared frequencies within the superconducting gap region by measuring the c-axis optical reflectivity for single crystals of T* cuprate superconductors SmLa0.85Sr0.15CuO4-delta and Nd1.4Sr0.4Ce0.2CuO4-delta. These T* cuprates have two different insulating layers sandwiching the superconducting CuO2 planes, leading to two longitudinal plasmons. Also, the transverse mode is directly observed due to the coupling of the infrared radiation with the current perpendicular to the superconducting layers which are regarded as an alternating array of two inequivalent Josephson junctions.  相似文献
