Pseudo goldstones at future colliders from the extended BESS model

Decays and branching ratios of light neutralino production in $Z_R^0 \to \tilde \chi _i^0 \tilde \chi _j^0 $ in the left-right super-symmetric model are considered. We study in detail the signatures of one and two sided events in $Z_R^0 \to \tilde \chi _1^0 \tilde \chi _2^0 $ and $Z_R^0 \to \tilde \chi _2^0 \tilde \chi _2^0 $ respectively, and their dependence on the parameters of the light neutralino mixing matrix.     

Chemical transformations of 3‐amino‐2‐quinolones

In order to find new antimalarial drugs, an exploration about the chemical properties of the starting compounds 3‐amino‐6‐chloro‐4‐phenyl‐1H‐quinolin‐2‐one ( 1 ) and 3‐amino‐4‐methyl‐1H‐quinolin‐2‐one ( 2 ) was developed. Acylation with acyl chloride, sulfonyl chloride and acetic anhydride were carried out. Despite a previous report [2], when acetyl chloride or acetic anhydride were assayed on 1 , only the diacetyl derivative 7 was obtained. When this compound was heated at reflux temperature in a mixture of acetic acid and acetic anhydride, it was transformed in the oxazoloquinoline 8 . Further reactions of the acyl derivatives with diazomethane afforded 1‐methylated compounds. Compound 2 gave the imine 16 by condensation with 4‐nitrobenzaldehyde.     

Rheology and structure formation in diluted mixed particle-surfactant systems

In the present work, we focus on the bulk rheology of mixtures consisting of surfactant modified silica nanoparticles in water. Depending on the ratio of surfactant and nanoparticle concentrations, significant modifications in the measured rheology are evidenced. A domain where the dispersions behave like viscoelastic media is observed. Outside this domain, the dispersions exhibit viscous properties. The changes in the bulk rheology characteristics are discussed in terms of interaction effects between the surfactant and the particles. The results obtained are seen in the context of diluted emulsions' properties and characteristics.     

Asymptotic analysis of the Krawtchouk polynomials by the WKB method

We analyze the Krawtchouk polynomials K _n (x,N,p,q) asymptotically. We use singular perturbation methods to analyze them for N→∞, with appropriate scalings of the two variables x and n. In particular, the WKB method and asymptotic matching are used. We obtain asymptotic approximations valid in the whole domain [0,N]×[0,N], involving some special functions. We give numerical examples showing the accuracy of our formulas.      

Synthesis of Ge-imogolite: influence of the hydrolysis ratio on the structure of the nanotubes

The synthesis protocol for Ge-imogolite (aluminogermanate nanotubes) consists of 3 main steps: base hydrolysis of a solution of aluminum and germanium monomers, stabilization of the suspension and heating at 95 °C. The successful synthesis of these nanotubes was found to be sensitive to the hydrolysis step. The impact of the hydrolysis ratio (from n(OH)/n(Al) = 0.5 to 3) on the final product structure was examined using a combination of characterization tools. Thus, key hydrolysis ratios were identified: n(OH)/n(Al) = 1.5 for the formation of nanotubes with structural defects, n(OH)/n(Al) = 2 for the synthesis of a well crystallized Ge imogolite and n(OH)/n(Al) > 2.5 where nanotube formation is hindered. The capability of controlling the degree of the nanotube's crystallinity opens up interesting opportunities in regard to new potential applications.

Summary Some results of statistical analyses on data from the Rome ionospheric station during the period 1948–1983 are shown as a model of the normal ionosphere over Rome.

Geometrical Optics Approach to Markov-Modulated Fluid Models

We analyze asymptotically a differential-difference equation, that arises in a Markov-modulated fluid model. Here, there are N identical sources that turn on and off , and when on they generate fluid at unit rate into a buffer, which processes the fluid at a rate   c < N   . In the steady-state limit, the joint probability distribution of the buffer content and the number of active sources satisfies a system of   N + 1  ODEs, that can also be viewed as a differential-difference equation analogous to a backward/forward parabolic PDE. We use singular perturbation methods to analyze the problem for   N →∞  , with appropriate scalings of the two state variables. In particular, the ray method and asymptotic matching are used.
