Elastic scattering of slow positrons on atoms

The results of calculations of the elastic scattering cross section of positrons on noble gas and alkali atoms are presented. The calculations are performed within the one-electron Hartree-Fock approximation with multielectron correlations in the so-called random phase approximation with exchange taken into account. Virtual positronium formation is taken into account and proved to be very important. Arguments are presented that the positron polarization potential is repulsive for alkali atoms. The results obtained are in a reasonable agreement with experiment and with some previously reported calculations.     

The selective chlorination of organohydridesilanes

Divinyl Sulfoxide: XI. Selective Addition of Carbonodithioate Anions to Divinyl Sulfoxide in the Water-Benzene System

Selective monoaddition of carbonodithioate anions to divinyl sulfoxide gives rise to O-alkyl S-[2-(vinylsulfinyl)ethyl] carbonodithioates [ROC(S)SK, R = Et, Bu; 42–50°C, 6 h, NaHCO₃, aqueous benzene].     

Reactions of Amidines with 5-Methylene-1,3-dioxolan-2-ones

The composition and yields of the products from the reaction of 4,4-dialkyl-5-methylene-1,3-dioxolan-2-ones with amidines depend on the structure of the initial amidine and on the reaction conditions. 2-Aminopyridines lead to 3-substituted 4-hydroxy-4-methyloxazolidin-2-ones and 4-methylene-oxazolidin-2-ones and also to sym-carbamides. 2-Amino-4,6-dimethylpyrimidine leads to the corresponding 4-methyleneoxazolidin-2-one. 3-Aminothiazoles give linear oxourethanes and sym-carbamides.     

Dehydration of 4-hydroxy-4-methyl-3-phenylamino-oxazolidin-2-ones

The dehydration of two 5,5-disubstituted 4-hydroxy-4-methyl-3-phenylaminooxazolidin-2-ones into the corresponding 4-methylene-3-phenylaminooxazolidin-2-ones has been carried out. Spectroscopic study of compounds possessing a bond of an element of group IVB with hydrogen

Conclusions The frequencies of the valence vibrations of the Si-H bond in trisubstituted silanes depends not only on the inductive effect of substituents, but also on the effects of d-p interaction, ,- and p,-conjugation. Raman effect of light on argon atoms

Scalar scattering of light on the 3p and 3s subshells of the argon atom (Stokes scattering) and anti-Stokes scattering on the excited 4p and 4s states of argon are examined in the Hartree-Fock approximation. The calculation is made in a velocity form and in a length form. New Bio-Based Furanic Materials Effectively Absorb Metals from Water and Exert Antimicrobial Activity

Development of sustainable bio-based materials for removal of toxic contaminants from water is a high priority goal. Novel bio-based binary and ternary copolymers with enhanced ion-exchange, adsorption and antibacterial properties were obtained by using plant biomass-derived diallyl esters of furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA) as crosslinking agents and easily available vinyl monomers. The synthesized copolymer materials showed higher sorption capacities for Ni^II, Co^II and Cu^II compared to the commercial ion-exchange resins, and they maintained their high metal adsorption capacities for over 10 cycles of regeneration. The synthesized copolymer gels containing 1–5 wt % of the crosslinker showed excellent water absorption capacities. The synthesized copolymers with 1 % crosslinker content showed swelling ratios high enough to also act as moisture absorbents. Synthesized copolymers with crosslinker content of 10 wt % performed as contact-active antibacterials by inhibiting the growth of Gram-positive (S. aureus) and Gram-negative bacteria (E. coli, K. pneumonia) in suspension tests.
