This paper is intended to clarify a misunderstanding concerningthe source singularity of the electric Green's tensor for aperfectly conducting semi-infinite cone of circular cross-section.Tai's series expansion of the Green's tensor is known to lacka singular term at the source region. Jones has reconstructedthe solution to this problem and has pointed out the differencebetween his result and that of Tai. The aim of our paper isto demonstrate that, although Jones's closed-form solution iscorrect, there is a mistake in his comparison with Tai's seriessolution. We conclude that one of the two additional singularterms that Jones claims as missing from Tai's formula must beomitted. Besides, we compare Jones's closed-form solution withSmyshlyaev's solution to the very same problem. We concludethat the magnetic field expressions given by Jones and Smyshlyaevcoincide, but a singular term is missing from Smyshlyaev's expressionfor the electric field.  相似文献

We demonstrate the imaging of ferroelectric domains in BaTiO3, using an infrared-emitting free-electron laser as a tunable optical source for scattering scanning near-field optical microscopy and spectroscopy. When the laser is tuned into the spectral vicinity of a phonon resonance, ferroelectric domains can be resolved due to the anisotropy of the dielectric properties of the material. Slight detuning of the wavelength gives rise to a contrast reversal clearly evidencing the resonant character of the excitation. The near-field domain contrast shows that the orientation of the dielectric tensor with respect to the sample surface has a clear influence on the near-field signal.  相似文献

The scattering of incident plane elastic waves by a varietyof different defects that lie upon a fluid-solid interface isconsidered here using matched asymptotic expansions. The expansionscheme is developed in terms of a parameter , the ratio of typicaldefect length scale to a typical wavelength of the incidentfield, taken to be small. Three different canonical situations occur and these are illustratedvia three specific examples treated here: a rigid strut, anedge crack, and a rigid strip. In each case the leading-ordermatching is performed to identify the leading-order contributionof the defect to the acoustic field in the far field. In particular,each defect is identified with a source of dipole response ininterfacial stress of displacement. It is shown in the limit as s<<s1 that in the inner problemsthe fluid and solid pieces uncouple in a particularly convenientmanner allowing analytical solutions to be deduced. Zusammenfassung Eine flotations-spektrophotometrische Methode zur Bestimmung des Zirkoniums in Stählen mittels des Dinatriumsalzes der 2,6-Dichlor-4-hydroxy-3, 3-dimethylfuchson-5,5-dicarbonsäure (CAB) wurde ausgearbeitet. Der molare Extinktionskoeffizient beträgt 3,3×104, die spezifische Absorptiona=0,33. Der Vorteil der bearbeiteten Methode ist die Möglichkeit, Zirkonium (IV) neben der hundertfachen Menge Hf(IV) zu bestimmen.
Flotation spectrophotometric method for determination of zirconium by means of eriochrome azurol B
Summary A flotation spectrophotometric method for determining zirconium in steels by means of the disodium salt of 2, 6-dichloro-4-hydroxy-3,3-dimethylfuchsone-5, 5-dicarbonic acid (CAB) was worked out. The molar extinction coefficient is 3.3×104. The specific absorption wasa=0.33. The advantage of the method is the possibility of determining zirconium(IV) besides the hundredfold amount of Hf(IV).

The microemulsions formed in the 4-component system water-potassium oleate-hexanol-dodecane have been investigated by time-average light scattering and small angle neutron scattering. A constant volume fraction ratio water: potassium oleate of 1.44 was used and at this constant composition, which gave a pseudo 3-component system, a wide region of the microemulsion domain was examined. In order to interpret the scattering data at finite volume fractions of the dispersed phase, water, allowance had to be made for interactions between the water-in-oil microemulsion droplets. This was carried out using a hard sphere model for the interaction. It is shown that using this model self-consistent results are obtained by light scattering and neutron scattering and an estimate can be made of the size of the particles in concentrated colloidal dispersions.  相似文献
