Visualization of sheath overlap dynamics during plasma source ion implantation (PSII) of a multiple-target array is used to illustrate the effect of target spacing on dose uniformity over the surface of a single target. The simulations are conducted using a hybrid plasma model, and the images are created using the Tecplot package by Amtec. The simulations suggest scaling rules for sheath overlap time as a function of target spacing.  相似文献

行波管再生反馈振荡器是一种新型太赫兹源器件.基于560GHz折叠波导慢波结构,对此类器件的工作原理与物理模型进行分析阐述.采用非线性互作用模型对行波管再生反馈振荡器进行详细振荡过程模拟.模拟结果显示,在550—600GHz频率下可以获得稳态振荡频率,并在560GHz处获得最大单频输出功率.结果同时表明,振荡频率随电子注电压发生跳变现象,并简要分析了其产生原因.  相似文献

Plasma source ion implantation (PSII) is a technique for modifying stafaces that places the object to he modified directly into a plasma and then negatively pulse biases the object so as to implant positive ions. If the voltage is high enough, X-rays can he generated by electrons that are also accelerated by the pulse. This work describes techniques for imaging and characterizing the X-rays A pinhole camera was used to image the X-rays being emitted as electrons collided with surfaces in the chamber. The images show that X-rays are generated at the chamber walls and near the target. The time dependence of these X-rays during each pulse was examined using a PIN diode X-ray detector. Then, using another X-ray sensor and pulseheight analyzer, the spectra of the emitted X-rays was determined. The object is to relate the X-ray intensity and spectrum to the temporal and spatial values of the implantation dose so that it may he used as a process monitor and a control sensor.  相似文献

The design and feasibility of a 1-MW continuous-wave (CW) free electron laser (FEL) oscillator are reviewed. The proposed configuration includes a short-period (Iw~ 1 cm) planar wiggler, a sheet electron beam, a 0.5-1.0-MV thermionic electron gun, a hybrid waveguide/quasi-optical resonator, commercial DC power supplies, and a depressed collector. Cavity ohmic RF losses are estimated to be extremely low (⩽10-100 W/cm2) at 1/MW output power, while thermal heat transfer studies conservatively indicate that wall cooling up to 1500 W/cm2 should be possible. Experiments have convincingly verified theory and simulations which predict that negligible body currents will be achievable with low-emittance low-space-charge sheet beams. High-voltage sheet beam gun design studies indicate that the required beam quality can be achieved with CW compatible devices. The spent beam energy distribution is consistent with highly efficient spent beam energy recovery, and the proposed resonator cavity should provide mode discrimination and beam/RF separation capability  相似文献

The first observations and measurements are reported on suppression of the third-order intermodulation (IM3) product arising from nonlinear mixing of two drive frequencies in a klystron, by externally injecting a wave at the IM3 product frequency. Optimum amplitude and phase of the injected wave for maximum suppression are examined. Results indicate that suppression of the IM3 product by as much as 30 dB can be achieved. Experimental results compare favorably with predictions of a 1D simulation code that takes into account all kinematical and dynamical effects including charge overtaking and space charge forces.  相似文献

Understanding the generation and growth of nonlinear harmonic (and intermodulation) distortion in microwave amplifiers such as traveling wave tubes (TWTs), free electron lasers (FELs), and klystrons is of current research interest. Similar to FELs, the nonlinear harmonic growth rate scales with the harmonic number in TWTs. In klystrons, the wave number scaling applies to the nonlinear harmonic bunching and associated nonlinear space-charge waves. Using a custom-modified TWT that has sensors along the helix, we provide the first experimental confirmation of the scaling of nonlinear harmonic growth rate and wave number in TWTs. These scalings of a nonlinearly generated harmonic mode versus an injected linear harmonic mode imply that suppression by harmonic injection occurs at a single axial position that can be located as desired by changing the injected amplitude and phase.  相似文献

The hybrid-mode dispersion relation and resonant growth rates are solved for a finite-thickness sheet electron beam propagating through a rectangular guide with a thin dielectric slab. Analytic results for the growth rates, bandwidth and mode competition for an infinite magnetic field in the limit of a dilute beam are then presented. To properly couple to the desired EH10 hybrid amplifier slow wave mode, the coupled waveguide mode equations are solved for a dielectric taper to accomplish the TE10 to EH10 mode transition. A piecewide linear taper which suppresses the competing EH11 mode and other hybrid modes is developed and the overall amplifier system is discussed  相似文献
