Modification of Synthetic Latexes with Colloidal Silver

Butadiene-styrene and acrylate latexes were studied as matrices for preparing colloidal silver. Colloidal-chemical and strength properties of the modified latexes and Primal E1950 latex films were studied. The heat resistance of these materials was determined.     

Phase diagrams of nonadecane–decalin and nonadecane–naphthalene systems

Phase equilibria in nonadecane–decalin and nonadecane–naphthalene systems are studied. Curves of the liquidus and eutectic temperatures of these systems are calculated using the Schröder–Le Chatelier equation and the strictly regular solutions model (RSM). The calculated values and the experimental data are compared.     

Deposition of silver coatings onto sodium borosilicate glass microspheres

A technique for preparation of silver coatings on the surface of sodium borosilicate microspheres was examined. The strength and stability of the coatings were studied as influenced by pre-irradiated titanium(IV) tetrabutoxide employed as surface modifier.

Synthesis,structure, and photocatalytic properties of titanium(IV) oxide modified with silver oxide nanoparticles on a boron-containing mesoporous support

A method for the synthesis of TiO₂–B₂O₃–Ag composite has been proposed. The composite structure and phase composition have been determined by X-ray diffraction analysis, IR spectroscopy, and scanning as well as transmission electron microscopy. The introduction of boron oxide in the TiO₂–Ag composite enhances catalytic activity of the samples in the reactions of methyl orange photodecomposition.     

Photochemical synthesis of nano-phase palladium films on quartz

Processes of photochemical deposition of palladium films on quartz from solutions of palladium(II) perchlorate and bis(ethylenediamine)palladium(II) tetraphenylborate in dimethyl formamide solutions and dimethyl formamide-ethanol mixtures were studied. The efficiency of the film deposition increases depending on the solvent nature.

     

Photochemical synthesis of colloidal metals

New photochemical method for preparation of colloidal metal particles (Cu, Ag, Au) as a films on the quartz surface and colloidal dispersion in different matrixes has been devised. Possibilities to control the properties of photogenerated colloidal metal particles are discussed.     

Photochemical formation of silver nanoparticles in elastomer films

Photochemical deposition of silver nanoparticles in poly(butyl acrylate) and poly(butadiene-styrene) under the action of monochromatic UV light (254 nm) was studied. Changes in the polymer structure in the course of photolysis were revealed and analyzed. A mechanism of formation of silver nanoparticles was suggested. Electron microscopic examination showed that the efficiency of the particle formation is determined by the residual moisture content of the polymer films. Physicomechanical properties (tensile strength and relative elongation) of the elastomer films containing silver nanoparticles were studied.     

Fluorescence of polystyrene microspheres during photochemical synthesis of gold nanoparticles

The results of investigation of the fluorescence of carboxylated polystyrene microspheres in the process of photochemical synthesis of gold nanoparticles are presented. The introduction of an aqueous solution of hydrogen tetrachloroaurate (III) into an unirradiated polymer dispersion causes a decay of the excimer fluorescence in polystyrene at 335 nm. UV irradiation (λ_exc = 254 nm) of polystyrene dispersions in the presence of AuCl ₄ ^? ions leads to the formation of metal particles, which occurs after an induction period and affects the polystyrene fluorescence.
