The assessment model for ultraviolet radiation and risk “AMOUR” is applied to output from two chemistry‐climate models (CCMs). Results from the UK Chemistry and Aerosols CCM are used to quantify the worldwide skin cancer risk avoided by the Montreal Protocol and its amendments: by the year 2030, two million cases of skin cancer have been prevented yearly, which is 14% fewer skin cancer cases per year. In the “World Avoided,” excess skin cancer incidence will continue to grow dramatically after 2030. Results from the CCM E39C‐A are used to estimate skin cancer risk that had already been inevitably committed once ozone depletion was recognized: excess incidence will peak mid 21st century and then recover or even super‐recover at the end of the century. When compared with a “No Depletion” scenario, with ozone undepleted and cloud characteristics as in the 1960s throughout, excess incidence (extra yearly cases skin cancer per million people) of the “Full Compliance with Montreal Protocol” scenario is in the ranges: New Zealand: 100–150, Congo: ?10–0, Patagonia: 20–50, Western Europe: 30–40, China: 90–120, South‐West USA: 80–110, Mediterranean: 90–100 and North‐East Australia: 170–200. This is up to 4% of total local incidence in the Full Compliance scenario in the peak year. 相似文献

PLD (pulsed laser deposition) is an attractive technique to fabricate thin films with a stoichiometry reflecting that of the target material. Conventional PLD instruments are more or less black boxes in which PLD is performed virtually “blind”, i.e. without having great control on the important PLD parameters. In this preliminary study, for the first time, a 213 nm Nd-YAG commercial laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (LA-ICPMS) intended for microanalysis work was used for PLD under atmospheric pressure and in and ex situ ICPMS analysis for diagnostics of the thin film fabrication process.A PLD demonstration experiment in a He atmosphere was performed with a Sm13.8Fe82.2Ta4.0 target-Ta-coated silicon wafer substrate (contraption with defined geometry in the laser ablation chamber) to transfer the permanent magnetic properties of the target to the film. Although this paper is not dealing with the magnetic properties of the film, elemental analysis was applied as a means of depicting the PLD process. It was shown that in situ ICPMS monitoring of the ablation plume as a function of the laser fluence, beam diameter and repetition rate may be used to ensure the absence of large particles (normally having a stoichiometry somewhat different from the target). Furthermore, ex situ microanalysis of the deposited particles on the substrate, using the LA-ICPMS as an elemental mapping tool, allowed for the investigation of PLD parameters critical in the fabrication of a thin film with appropriate density, homogeneity and stoichiometry. 相似文献

Simulations of the total ozone content and vertical ozone and temperature profiles during the period 1980–2080 from three chemistry climate models (CCMs) were used and the future variability of five UV dose rate types in global scale was simulated. For each CCM, radiative transfer calculations for cloud-free skies and constant values of aerosol optical properties and surface reflectivity were performed and the percentage difference, relative to the mean over the period 1996–2005, was calculated. The potential biological consequences of ozone recovery are quantified due to the different influence of ozone-absorbing wavelengths on the selected UV action spectra: average percentage differences between a few and 60% are revealed during the 2070s, depending on the latitude zone and the season. Although the research into the prediction of UV radiation levels is ongoing, due to the possible future changes in cloudiness, aerosols or surface reflectivity, the long-term changes in ozone, as projected by the CCMs in a similar way, will affect strongly some of the selected UV dose rates in the future. 相似文献

Summary A new method is presented for the computation of a greatest common divisor (gcd) of two polynomials, along with their polynomial remainder sequence (prs). This method is based on our generalization of a theorem by Van Vleck [12] and uniformly treats both normal and abnormal prs's, making use of Bareiss's [3] integer-preserving transformation algorithm for Gaussian elimination. Moreover, for the polynomials of the prs's, this method provides the smallest coefficients that can be expected without coefficient ged computations (as in Bareiss [3]) and it clearly demonstrates the divisibility properties; hence, it combines the best of both the reduced and the subresultant prs algorithms.This paper is affectionately dedicated to the memory of my father 相似文献

In this study, the synthesis of a layered double hydroxide (LDH) composite with graphene quantum dots (GQDs) and its utilization for the development of a dispersive solid-phase extraction procedure are described. To this end, a carbonate-free Mg-Al LDH was synthesized. The development of the composite material made feasible the use of GQDs in a sample preparation procedure, while the incorporation of the GQDs in the LDH structure resulted in an 80% increase in extraction efficiency, compared to the bare LDH. As a proof of concept, the composite material was used for the development of an analytical method for the extraction, and preconcentration, of benzophenones, phenols, and parabens in lake water using high-performance liquid chromatography, coupled to a diode array detector. The analytical method exhibits low limits of quantification (0.10–1.33 μg L−1), good recoveries (92–100%), and satisfactory enrichment factors (169–186). Due to the abovementioned merits, the easy synthesis and simple extraction, the developed method can be used for the routine analysis of the target compounds. 相似文献

A new methodology for protein microarray fabrication is proposed based on the ablation of polymer film using laser at 157 nm (F2). The polymer has been selected among others with the criterion of negligible protein adsorption. Improved results have been obtained by pretreatment of the polymer surface with an inert protein. The use of 157-nm laser radiation allowed very good depth control during the polymeric layer ablation process. In addition the importance of laser ablation at 157 nm is based on the fact that irradiated surfaces indicate limited chemical change due to the fact that laser ablation at 157 nm is only photochemical, thus avoiding excessive surface heating and damage. Results of protein microarray fabrication are presented to illustrate the viability of the proposed method. 相似文献
