X-ray diffraction studies of imperfect crystals by the example of fluorinated graphites

An X-ray diffraction technique for the study of imperfect crystals of natural graphite and its fluorinated products is proposed. The diffraction patterns measured are free from the preferred orientation effect and provide the simulation based on a 1D disordered crystal.     

Subwave spikes of the orbital angular momentum of the vortex beams in a uniaxial crystal

We have theoretically predicted gigantic spikes of orbital angular momentum caused by conversion processes of the centered optical vortex in the circularly polarized components of an elliptic vortex beam propagating perpendicularly to the crystal optical axis. We have experimentally observed the conversion process inside subwave deviations of the crystal length. We have found that the total orbital angular momentum of the wave beam is conserved.     

Electron probe X-ray microanalysis as a non-destructive method for the quantitative determination of ion-implanted impurities in silicon

An urgent need exists for non-destructive methods of analysis which can provide information both on the depth distributions and cumulative quantity of impurity in semiconductors. A proposal for using electron probe X-ray microanalysis is presented in this paper. The method is based on the equation which relates the X-ray intensity of impurity atoms to their depth distribution in the specimen.Two different approaches are presented:     

Generation of optical vortices in multihelical optical fibers

It is theoretically demonstrated that multihelical fibers are capable to change the topological charge of the incoming field by l units in the transmitted and reflected light. The magnitude of the change in the topological charge coincides with the number of coaxial helicoids forming the fiber core. This can be used in designing generators of optical vortices (OVs) from Gaussian beams: broadband ones in transmitted light and narrowband ones in reflected light.     

Optical vortices in anisotropic optical fibers with torsional stress

Analytical expressions for the higher-order modes with the azimuthal number equal to unity and for corresponding propagation constants of optical fibers with linear anisotropy of the fiber material and a circular anisotropy induced by torsional mechanical stress been obtained at practically important relationships between fiber parameters. The possibility of stable propagation of optical vortices in these fibers and the dependence of characteristics of sustained optical vortices on the fiber parameters are demonstrated.

Possible observational manifestations of wormholes in the Brans-Dicke theory

The energy flux emitted during the accretion of matter onto a wormhole in the Brans-Dicke theory has been calculated. This characteristic is compared with its values calculated previously for wormholes in general relativity and for a Schwarzschild black hole.     

Four-Dimensional Dilatonic Black Holes in Gauss-Bonnet Extended String Gravity

An internal singularity of a string four-dimensional black hole with second order curvature corrections is investigated. A restriction to a minimal size of a neutral black hole is obtained in the frame of the model considered. Vacuum polarization of the surrounding space-time caused by this minimal-size black hole is also discussed.     

[Co(NH<Subscript>3</Subscript>)<Subscript>6</Subscript>](WO<Subscript>4</Subscript>)Cl: Synthesis,crystal structure,and thermal properties

The crystal structure of [Co(NH₃)₆](WO₄)Cl complex salt is determined by single crystal X-ray. The thermal properties are examined, and the products obtained on heating the salt in different gaseous atmospheres are analyzed by powder X-ray diffraction.
