Interaction between two coupled Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs) is investigated by the variational approach in two finite traps, and the effects of the spacing between the two traps on dynamics of the two BECs are analyzed. The spacing determines the stable condition of stationary states, affects the existence condition of each BEC, and changes the switching and self-trapping effects on the two BECs. The dynamic mechanism is demonstrated by performing a coordinate of classical particle moving in an effective potential field, and confirmed by the evolution of the atom population transferring ratio. 相似文献

Effects of localized impurity of trap on characteristics of two Bose-Einstein condensates 总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4
The characteristics of solitons with a localized impurity in Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs) are investigated with numerical simulations of the Gross-Pitaevskii (GP) equation, the effects of the impurity on BEC solitons are discussed, and the atom population transferring ratios between the two BECs as time goes on are analyzed. It is found that population transfer depends on the impurity strength and the parameters of the system of BECs. 相似文献

The stability of three coupled Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) solitons is investigated by the variational approach in two conventional time-independent trapping potentials. The effects of parameters of the potentials and the initial conditions of the BEC soliton system on the stationary state and self-trapping are discussed. It is found that the trapping potentials play an important role in the stability of the system and change the characteristics of the system, and there are different critical potential amplitude values corresponding to different trapping potentials and initial conditions of the BEC soliton system. 相似文献

The motion characteristics of a Bose-Einstein condensate bright soliton incident on a local step-like potential barrier are investigated analytically by means of the variational approach. The dynamics of the soliton-potential interaction is studied as well. Then the results are verified by direct numerical simulations of the Gross-Pitaevskii equation. It is found that a moving bright soliton can be reflected from or pass over a step-like potentiaI in a controllable fashion, the critical velocity depends on the width of the soliton and the parameters of the step, and the motion trajectory of the soliton does not depend on its phase. The atom density envelope of the soliton is changed as the result of the interaction between the soliton and the step-like potential. 相似文献

The evolution characteristics of a matter-wave bright soliton are investigated by means of the variational approach in the presence of spatially varying nonlinearity. It is found that the atom density envelope of the soliton is changed as a result of the spatial variation of the s-wave scattering length. The stable soliton can exist in appropriate initial conditions. The movement of the soliton depends on the sign and value of the coefficient of spatially modulated nonlinearity. These theoretical predictions are confirmed by the full numerical simulations of the one-dimensional Gross-Pitaevskii equation. 相似文献
