We experimentally demonstrate third-harmonic generation(THG) in gases ionized by a femtosecond laser pulse superimposed on its second-harmonic(SH). The mechanism of THG has been investigated, and it demonstrates that a third-order nonlinear process dominates at low pump intensity.
