We propose a Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) based on coupled dielectric pillars. It is composed of single-row pillar coupled waveguide modulating arms and three-row pillar waveguide 3 dB couplers. The slow light property and transmission loss of the single-row pillar modulating arm are optimized by the plane wave expansion method. A short 3dB coupler is designed based on the modes transformation in three-row pillar waveguide. Finite difference time domain simulations prove the validity of this MZI and show that it has low insertion loss of 1.1 dB and high extinction ratio of 〉 12 dB.  相似文献

A multilayered configuration broad bandwidth polarization insensitive reflector realized by a multi-subpart profile grating structure is presented. The properties of the reflector are investigated by rigorous coupled-wave analysis. It is shown that over a broadband spectrum of 1.62-1.76μm, the reflector demonstrates high reflectivity (R 〉 99%), low polarization-dependent loss (PDL〈 0.02 dB) and good angular insensitivity of about 29.6% for both transverse electric and transverse magnetic polarized waves.  相似文献

Partial bandgap characteristics of parallelogram lattice photonic crystals are proposed to suppress the radiation modes in a compact dielectric waveguide taper so as to obtain high transmittance in a large wavelength range. Band structure of the photonic crystals shows that there exists a partial bandgap, The photonie crystals with partial bandgap are then used as the cladding of a waveguide taper to reduce the radiation loss efficiently. In comparison with the conventional dielectric taper and the complete bandgap photonic crystal taper, the partial bandgap photonic crystal taper has a high transmittance of above 85% with a wide band of 170 nm.  相似文献

针对稀土Er掺杂Si光源中Er离子掺杂浓度低的问题,采用溶胶-凝胶(Sol-gel)法在Si(100)和SiO2/Si(100)基片上旋涂法制备Er2O3光学薄膜,Er离子浓度与以前掺杂方法相比提高了2个数量级.900℃热处理获得单一立方结构的Er2O3薄膜材料.光致发光(PL)特性研究表明在654nm波长的激光泵浦下,Er2O3薄膜材料获得了1.535μm的发光峰,并具有较小的温度猝灭1/5.在SiO2/Si(100)基体上制备的Er2O3薄膜材料的光致发光强度比Si(100)基体上制备的薄膜提高2-3倍.研究结果表明具有强光致发光特性的Er2O3薄膜是一种有前景的硅基光源和放大器材料.  相似文献

A high-permittivity (high-k) material is applied as the gate dielectric layer in a silicon metal-oxide- semiconductor (MOS) capacitor to form a special electro-optic (EO) modulator. Both induced charge density and modulation efficiency in the proposed modulator are improved due to the special structure design and the application of the high-k material. The optical saturation characteristics in the germanium-on-silicon(Ge-on-Si) photodetector are studied for the first time, to the best of our knowledge. The relationship between the optical saturation characteristics and the optical field distribution in the Ge layer is illustrated by the simulation. This theory is verified by comparative experiments with single-injection and dual-injection structures. The dual-injection photodetector with a more balanced and uniform optical field distribution has a 13% higher responsivity at low optical power and 74.4%higher saturation current at 1550 nm. At higher optical power, the bandwidth of the dual-injection photodetector is five times larger than that of the single-injection photodetector.  相似文献

Optical microring resonators are extensively employed in a wide range of physical studies and applications due to the resonance enhancement property.Incorporating coupling control of a microring resonator is necessary in many scenarios,but modifications are essentially added to the resonator and impair the capability of optical enhancement.Here,we propose a flexible coupling structure based on adiabatic elimination that allows low-loss active coupling control without any modifications to the resonators.The self-coupling coefficient can be monotonically or non-monotonically controllable by the proposed coupler,potentially at a high speed.The characteristic of the coupler when implemented in silicon microring resonators is investigated in detail using substantiated analytical theory and experiments.This work provides a general method in coupling control while ensuring the resonance enhancement property,making active coupling control in a resonator-waveguide system feasible.  相似文献

溶胶-凝胶法在Si(100)基片上旋涂法制备铒硅酸盐化合物(Er silicate)薄膜.系统研究了烧结温度和烧结时间对Er silicate薄膜相结构、相转变以及光致发光特性的影响.在1000 ℃以下,薄膜晶体结构为Er2O3 晶体和SiO2 非晶的混合物.随着烧结温度增加到1200 ℃,保温时间增加到30 min,薄膜晶体结构转变成(100),(200)和(300)择优取向的Er2SiO5相. 关键词: 发光学 光学薄膜 溶胶-凝胶法 铒硅酸盐  相似文献
