The concentrations of water, W, and electrolytes present in solutions of LiCl in N,N-dimethylacetamide, LiCl/DMAc, and of tetrabutylammonium fluoride. x-hydrate in DMSO, TBAF.xW/DMSO can be accurately and expediently determined by three independent methods, UV–vis, FTIR and EMF measurement. The first relies on the use of solvatochromic probes whose spectra are sensitive to solution composition. It is applicable to W/LiCl/DMAc solutions but not to TBAF.xW/DMSO, because the charge-transfer complex bands of the probes are suppressed by strong interactions with the latter electrolyte. Integration of νOH band of water may be employed in order to determine [W], hence [electrolyte] by weight difference. EMF measurement uses ion-selective electrodes in order to determine [electrolyte], hence [W] by weight difference. Results of the latter method were in excellent agreement with those of FTIR. The reason for the failure of Karl Fischer titration is addressed, and the relevance of the results obtained to functionalization of cellulose under homogenous solution conditions is briefly commented on.  相似文献

We study numerically the Riemann problem for a 2 x 2 system of conservation laws with a cubic flux function, a particular case of the class of models introduced by Keyfitz and Kranzer. The system is not strictly hyperbolic, and the classical Lax theory for hyperbolic systems is not directly applicable. Correspondingly, some numerical schemes which are accurate for strictly hyperbolic systems are not well behaved for this example. When they do work, different schemes yield markedly different results for certain data. We explain this effect by observing that, near these data, viscous regularization is non-uniform as the viscosity tends to zero. This fact does not contradict the well-posedness of the hyperbolic model; it does imply that precise control of the viscosity introduced into a computational method is crucial for generating the correct numerical solutions. We examine all of these issues and comment on their implications for similar systems which arise in continuum mechanics.  相似文献

Lead(II) alkanoates with even chain lengths from octanoate to octadecanoate have been investigated by Raman spectroscopy. In the low frequency region, transverse and longitudinal acoustical modes (TAM, LAM) have been assigned. It was shown that LAM-1 is the vibration of the double chain with the node of the vibration in the Pb2+ layer. A fully extended conformation of the chains in the low temperature phase was confirmed. The frequencies and intensities of the LAMs as compared with those of the alkanes and the fatty acids led to an estimate of the force constant and polarizability of the Pb2+ -COO- bond relative to the C-C bond. The defects at the chain ends were investigated in the ρ(CH3) and v(CC) region. For the intermediate (CM) phase, both the Pb2+ layer distance reduction and the chain length independent enthalpy contributions can be attributed mainly to defects at the chain ends.  相似文献

The three-dimensional structure of the calcite (104)-water interface has been determined with surface X-ray scattering. Nine crystal truncation rods (including specular and non-specular rods) were measured providing both vertical and lateral sensitivity to the interfacial structure. The results reveal that calcite is nearly ideally terminated with a single surface hydration layer that includes two inequivalent water molecules having distinct heights of 2.3 ± 0.1 and 3.5 ± 0.2 Å, each with a well-defined lateral registry with respect to the calcite surface. No additional layering of water is observed beyond this surface hydration layer. Small displacements in the outer two calcium carbonate layers were also observed. These results are compared with previous experimental and computational results.  相似文献

Zusammenfassung Es wird die zeitabhängige Strömung beim Ausgleichsvorgang zwischen zwei endlichen Behältern untersucht. Den Überlegungen wird eine eindimensionale, reibungsfreie und quasistationäre Strömung zugrunde gelegt. Während bei überkritischer Strömung eine analytische Lösung möglich ist, wird das Problem bei unterkritischer Strömung numerisch gelöst.Dem Druckausgleich zwischen den beiden Behältern folgt ein isobarer Wärme- und Massenaustausch, bis sich das thermodynamische Gleichgewicht eingestellt hat.
Gasdynamical investigation of Joule's overflow experiment
The time-dependent flow of an exchange process between two big insulated tanks is considered. The problem is treated on the basis of a one-dimensional, inviscid and quasi-steady flow. An analytical solution is obtained for supercritical flow, while for subcritical flow the problem is solved numerically.After the pressure-equilibrium between the two-tanks an isobar heat and mass exchange follows, until the thermodynamic equilibrium is reached.
