Lorentz Invariant Decompositions of the State Vector Spaces and the Basis Problem

We consider a representation of the state reduction which depends neither on its reality nor on the details of when and how it emerges. Then by means of the representation we find necessary conditions, even if not the sufficient ones, for a decomposition of the state vector space to be a solution to the basis problem. The conditions are that the decomposition should be Lorentz invariant and orthogonal and that the associated projections should be continuous. They are shown to be able to determine a decomposition in each of a few examples considered if the other circumstances are taken into account together.     

The tangential end fibration of an aspherical Poincaré complex

We construct a sphere fibration over a finite aspherical Poincaré complex X, which we call the tangential end fibration, under the condition that the universal cover of X is forward tame and simply connected at infinity. We show that it is tangent to X if the formal dimension of X is even or, when the formal dimension is odd, if the diagonal X→X×X admits a Poincaré embedding structure.     

Tangent Bundle of a Manifold and its Homotopy Type

There is a homotopy equivalence :MM' between closed smooth manifoldsof an odd dimension such that *TM', TM are stably isomorphicbut not isomorphic to each other.     

Elements of the Lagrangian Whitney trick

We investigate the possibility of a Lagrangian Whitney trick, a process to remove a pair of intersection points of a self-transverse Lagrangian immersion by a homotopy through Lagrangian immersions. There is a model for which a Lagrangian Whitney trick with compact support works assuming the model satisfies an area-capacity condition. Reduction of more general cases to the model, not necessarily fulfilling the area-capacity requirement, is possible if the given pair of double points admits a suitable symplectic disc and a certain Maslov-Viterbo index is 1. We look into an example to see the actualities of the Maslov-Viterbo index and the area-capacity conditions. On vanishing of characteristic numbers in Poincaré complexes

Let be the evaluation subgroup as defined by Gottlieb. Assume the Hurewicz map is non-trivial and is a field. We will prove: if is a Poincaré complex oriented in -coefficient, all the characteristic numbers of in -coefficient vanish. Similarly, if and is a -Poincaré complex, then all the mod Wu numbers vanish. We will also show that the existence of a non-trivial derivation on with some suitable conditions implies vanishing of mod Wu numbers.

     

Tangent Fibration of a Poincare Complex

The unstable tangent fibration of a Poincaré complexis defined so that it is consistent with the manifold case.It exists uniquely for each Poincaré complex X up tofibrewise homotopy equivalence and, furthermore, if a Poincaréembedding structure exists on the diagonal XXxX, its normalfibration is the tangent fibration.

There is a Poincaré embedding structure on the diagonal under the conditions: i) is formed by gluing two compact smooth manifolds along their boundaries using a homotopy equivalence and ii) a square-root closed condition is satisfied by the fundamental groupoid of the boundary.
