Excitation of Waveguides with a Nonhomogeneous Filling

Radiation conditions are posed for an electromagnetic waveguide with a nonhomogeneous filling. The existence of a solution in a certain functional class is proved. A near-zone solution is obtained.     

A demonstration of the diffusion of sodium in a glass-gas discharge system

A demonstration is proposed of the nonstationary diffusion of sodium from a melt of its salt in two-electrode light indicators of a discharge in the cases of electric fields accelerating and damping the motion of ions.Mordovinian Pedagogical Institute. Three-phase model of a chiral quark bag

A three-phase model of a hybrid chiral quark bag is proposed. In addition to the phases of asymptotically free current quarks and of totally colorless mesons, the model contains the intermediate phase of massive constituent quarks. A self-consistent solution with an account for the “Dirac sea” contribution is found in the (1+1)-dimensional case. The dependence of the bag parameters on the parameters of the theory is investigated analytically and numerically. Assignment of multiline tungsten-183 NMR spectra of diamagnetic polyoxotungstates from intensity patterns

Measurement of relative integrated intensities and peak heights of multiline one-dimensional 183W NMR spectra of diamagnetic polyoxotungstates can result in complete or partial assignment of chemical shifts, even when 183W-183W spin-coupled satellites are not detectable or well-resolved. The intensity of the center peak of each signal is diminished according to the number and type (corner- vs edge-sharing of WO6 octahedra) of potential spin-couplings. Application of the method is exemplified by analysis of spectra of alpha-[XW11O39]n- and derivatives, alpha2-[P2W17O61]10-, and [As4W40O140]28-. Intensity patterns of the six-line spectra of the beta1 and beta3 isomers of [XW11O39]n- are sufficiently different to allow identification.     

Some merocyanine dyes derived from 3-ethyl-4-thioxothiazolidine-2-one

A number of dimethine and γ-alkoxytetramethine merocyanines derived from 3-ethyl-4-thioxothiazolidin-2-one have been synthesized by the condensation of 5-anilinomethylene-3-ethyl-4-thioxothiazolidin-2-one, obtained by the action of phosphorus pentasulfide on the corresponding 2, 4-dione, with quaternary salts of some 2-methyl- and 2-Β-alkoxypropenyl-substituted heterocyclic bases. The color and photographic properties of the dyes obtained have been studied.     

On the connection between discontinuous step-like and smooth kink-type classical solutions in quantum field theory

A nonperturbative procedure for subtracting singularities caused by finite discontinuities of the field configurations is suggested. This procedure is applied to the Lorentz-covariant quantization of(1+1)-dimensional topological kinks. In the course of this procedure, quantum copies of a classical kink naturally appear. These copies have the same topological charge but have negligibly small sizes and masses because the subtraction procedure eliminates divergences caused by the field differentiations at the discontinuity points. Stereochemicai study of 7-aryl-1,7,8,8a-tetrahydro-3(2H)indolizinones by1H and13C NMR

Stereochemistry of 7-aryl-1,7,8,8a-tetrahydro-3(2H)-indolizinones was studied by¹H and¹³C NMR. Complete assignment of¹H NMR signals and analysis of¹H-¹H coupling constants were performed using the iterative PANIC program. Values of³ J _6,7,³ J _7,8endo, and⁴ J _5,7 allow one to unambiguously identify the correspondingexo- andendo-stereoisomers. For stereoisomers with exo-orientation of H(7), complete assignment of¹³C NMR signals was performed on the basis of analysis of the¹³C-¹H coupling constants using two dimensional heteronuclear shift-correlating spectroscopy.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. On a nonlinear eigenmode problem in semiconductor theory

A model problem in semiconductor physics concerning the natural electrical oscillations in a semiconductor with allowance for strong dissipation and negative differential conductivity is considered. This is a nonlinear boundary value problem, and its solvability is proved by applying S.I. Pohozaev’s method of spherical fibering.
