On the geometry of infinite cyclic subgroups

In this paper we construct an example of a word metric on an infinite cyclic subgroup. This example shows that subexponential distortion does not obstruct non-trivial growth of connected radii. This answers a question of Gromov [6]. The constructed metric has other pathological properies. Specifically, its asymptotic cone depends on the choice of ultrafilter and scaling sequence. OADM环网的实验研究

研究了光分插复用器(OADM)的关键技术,重点分析了相关的实现技术,完成了利用OADM构建全光环网的实验研究,给出了重要的实验数据,包括眼图、光谱图、光信噪比、保护与恢复等,并对这些实验数据进行了分析,为光传送网的设计与构建提供了重要的参考依据.     

矩母函数:拟对称概率测度

本文用凸函数的方法研究了概率测度的矩母函数和由C.J.Stone提出的拟对称性,并刻画了Martin边界的法向量.拟对称性在随机游动的比例极限定理中是一个重要的概念.这些结果可应用于Levy过程的研究.     

Shape Optimization for Semi-Linear Elliptic Equations Based on an Embedding Domain Method

We study a class of shape optimization problems for semi-linear elliptic equations with Dirichlet boundary conditions in smooth domains in ℝ². A part of the boundary of the domain is variable as the graph of a smooth function. The problem is equivalently reformulated on a fixed domain. Continuity of the solution to the state equation with respect to domain variations is shown. This is used to obtain differentiability in the general case, and moreover a useful formula for the gradient of the cost functional in the case where the principal part of the differential operator is the Laplacian. Mapping Properties of a Projection Related to the Helmholtz Equation

We study the continuity properties of a projection derived from a recent characterization of Herglotz Wave Functions in the plane. Herglotz Wave Functions are the entire solutions of the Helmholtz equation which have L²-Far-Field-Pattern. The behavior of this projection is reminiscent of the Disc Multiplier Operator on both L^p and mixed L^p-normed spaces. In particular a Kakeya type set plays a central role in our analysis. As a consequence we answer a question posed by Alvarez, Folch-Gabayet and Pérez-Esteva.     

深能级杂质对光导半导体开关非线性特性的影响

建立了非线性GaAs光导开关深能级杂质瞬态模型的基本方程,获得了与实验现象定性吻合的电流输出,给出了平均载流子随时间演化的情况.分析结果表明,在考虑了深能级杂质的俘获、发射和碰撞电离后,有可能对非线性光导开关中发生的一系列现象做出解释,进一步的仔细分析将对非线性光导开关的设计和制作提供理论指导.     

Identification of micro-scale calorimetric devices II

The miniaturized calorimetric devices furnish a reduced working flat surface and permits measurements with extremely low-mass quantities. The experimental sensitivity shows relevant position dependence with x-y surface coordinates and with z-distance. The device identification is realized via a 2-D model based in Fourier general equation. Using the Marquardt method the experimental flat surface device can be identified and the fitted parameters used to simulate the behavior of the experimental system. From the model, the effects of several dissipation configurations can be evaluated. Also, via the RC-analogy, a way to 3-D experimental devices is roughly described. Laser stabilitron

We consider a new method for producing intensity stabilization of cw lasers. This method incorporates negative feedback from a nonlinear saturable absorber to provide wideband noise-reduction and may produce an output beam for which shot noise is below the quantum limit. This new method can be used with a large variety of cw lasers and is particularly applicable to frequency-stabilized lasers which are locked to absorption lines.Permanent address: Institute of Laser Physics, Novosibirsk 630090, Russia     

A transportable gamma spectroscopy system applied to the measurement of fission products

Normally, gamma-ray spectroscopy is performed by equipment positioned in the SLOWPOKE-2 Facility at the Royal Military College; however, there have occasionally been requirements for analyses externally. A transportable gamma spectroscopy system was thus assembled by acquiring a commercially available multichannel analyzer, analysis program and detector, and by designing and constructing a transportable shielding castle. It was then used to take measurements of fission product concentrations at several research reactors.
