A superoxide dismutase (SOD)-modified electrode, in which SOD is oriented on the gold electrode via a self-assembled monolayer of cysteine so as to allow its direct electrode reaction, possesses a bi-directional electrocatalysis for both the oxidation of superoxide ion (O2-) to O2 and the reduction of O2- to H2O2 and functions as a third generation O2- biosensor.  相似文献

The present research investigates the tuber proteome of the ‘medicinal’ plant Jerusalem artichoke (abbreviated as JA) (Helianthus tuberosus L.) using a high-throughput proteomics technique. Although JA has been historically known to the Native Americans, it was introduced to Europe in the late 19th century and later spread to Japan (referred to as ‘kiku-imo’) as a folk remedy for diabetes. Genboku Takahashi research group has been working on the cultivation and utilization of kiku-imo tuber as a traditional/alternative medicine in daily life and researched on the lowering of blood sugar level, HbA1c, etc., in human subjects (unpublished data). Understanding the protein components of the tuber may shed light on its healing properties, especially related to diabetes. Using three commercially processed JA tuber products (dried powder and dried chips) we performed total protein extraction on the powdered samples using a label-free quantitate proteomic approach (mass spectrometry) and catalogued for the first time a comprehensive protein list for the JA tuber. A total of 2967 protein groups were identified, statistically analyzed, and further categorized into different protein classes using bioinformatics techniques. We discussed the association of these proteins to health and disease regulatory metabolism. Data are available via ProteomeXchange with identifier PXD030744.  相似文献

A three-dimensional common-path interferometer is proposed, which can achromatically null out an on-axis source while it maintains the detectability of an off-axis source. A geometric phase in the three-dimensional interferometer introduces an achromatic pi-phase shift to the light from the on-axis source, such that destructive interference nulls out the axial light at one of the ports of the interferometer. Light from the off-axis source, which is exempt from the pi-phase shift, comes out from both ports with equal intensity. The common-path scheme makes the system highly immune to environmental disturbances.  相似文献

We prove that the Néron-Severi groups of several complex Fermat surfaces are generated by lines. Specifically, we obtain these new results for all degrees up to 100 that are relatively prime to 6. The proof uses reduction modulo a supersingular prime. The techniques are developed in detail. They can be applied to other surfaces and varieties as well.  相似文献

We propose minimum volume ellipsoids (MVE) clustering as an alternative clustering technique to k-means for data clusters with ellipsoidal shapes and explore its value and practicality. MVE clustering allocates data points into clusters in a way that minimizes the geometric mean of the volumes of each cluster’s covering ellipsoids. Motivations for this approach include its scale-invariance, its ability to handle asymmetric and unequal clusters, and our ability to formulate it as a mixed-integer semidefinite programming problem that can be solved to global optimality. We present some preliminary empirical results that illustrate MVE clustering as an appropriate method for clustering data from mixtures of “ellipsoidal” distributions and compare its performance with the k-means clustering algorithm as well as the MCLUST algorithm (which is based on a maximum likelihood EM algorithm) available in the statistical package R.
