Adapting hydrogen as a carbon-free fuel for industrial applications requires new, innovative approaches, especially when radiant heat transfer is required. One possible option is to dope hydrogen with bio-oils, containing aromatics that help produce highly sooting flames. This study investigates the potential doping effects of toluene on a hydrogen-nitrogen (1:1 vol) flames. Flames with 1–5% toluene, based on the mole concentration of hydrogen, are measured using a combination of techniques including: still photographs and laser-based techniques. Toluene was mixed with hydrogen-nitrogen fuel mixture as either a vapour carried by nitrogen, or as a dilute spray. Spray flames are found to produce substantially more polycylic aromatic hydrocarbons, with significantly more soot near the nozzle exit plane, than the prevaporised flames. Increasing the dopant concentration from 1 to 3% of the hydrogen has a marked effect on soot loading in the flame, although the further increasing the dopant concentration to 5% has a far smaller effect on the soot produced in the flame. Simulations of laminar flames using detailed chemical kinetics support the above findings and reveal details of the competition between soot precursor formation and hydrocarbon oxidation. Correlations of formation rates are non-linear with toluene concentration in cases where toluene represents less than 10% of the fuel, although expected linear relationships are noted beyond this regime up to 1:1 toluene/hydrogen blends. The study provides insight and explanation into effects of toluene as a dopant, comparison between flame doping in gaseous or liquid phases and suggests that flame doping and blending should be treated as different regimes for their global effect on flame sooting characteristics.  相似文献

We introduce the intex density X(R,u), which combines both the intracular and extracular coordinates to yield a simultaneous probability density for the position of the center-of-mass radius (R) and relative separation (u) of electron pairs. One of the principle applications of the intex density is to investigate the origin of the recently observed secondary Coulomb hole. The Hartree-Fock (HF) intex densities for the helium atom and heliumlike ions are symmetric functions that may be used to prove the isomorphism 2I(2R)=E(R), where I(u) is the intracule density and E(R) is the extracule density. This is not true of the densities that we have constructed from explicitly correlated wave functions. The difference between these asymmetric functions and their symmetric HF counterparts produces a topologically rich intex correlation hole. From the intex hole distributions (X(exact)(R,u)-X(HF)(R,u)), we conclude that the probability of observing an electron pair with a very large interelectronic separation increases with the inclusion of correlation only when their center-of-mass radius is close to half of their separation.  相似文献

Abstract

Advances in experimental, high-speed techniques can be used to explore the processes occurring within energetic materials. This review describes techniques used to study a wide range of processes: hot-spot formation, ignition thresholds, deflagration, sensitivity and finally the detonation process. As this is a wide field the focus will be on small-scale experiments and quantitative studies. It is important that such studies are linked to predictive models, which inform the experimental design process. The stimuli range includes, thermal ignition, drop-weight, Hopkinson Bar and Plate Impact studies. Studies made with inert simulants are also included as these are important in differentiating between reactive response and purely mechanical behaviour.

Let G be a semisimple algebraic group defined over an algebraicallyclosed field K of good characteristic p>0. Let u be a unipotentelement of G of order pt, for some t N. In this paper it isshown that u lies in a closed subgroup of G isomorphic to theit Witt group Wt(K), which is a t-dimensional connected abelianunipotent algebraic group. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification:20G15.  相似文献

Automatic analysis of the dynamic deformation of a fine grid ruled onto a specimen's surface has allowed whole-field measurement of both in-plane displacement components. A high-speed camera was used to capture images of impacts at velocities of over 500 m/s. The Fourier transform method and phase unwrapping were used to calculate planes of phase coordinates which deform with the specimen. An iterative search algorithm yields the displacements directly by searching for the shifted location of each set of phase coordinates in the image of the deformed specimen. This paper describes the application of a previously proven analysis technique to dynamic deformation. Simple sample preparation and experimental operation make this technique ideal for the dynamic regime.  相似文献

Background

Activation of human resting T lymphocytes results in an immediate increase in protein synthesis. The increase in protein synthesis after 16–24 h has been linked to the increased protein levels of translation initiation factors. However, the regulation of protein synthesis during the early onset of T cell activation has not been studied in great detail. We studied the regulation of protein synthesis after 1 h of activation using αCD3 antibody to stimulate the T cell receptor and αCD28 antibody to provide the co-stimulus.  相似文献
