Systematic errors in spin rotation operations using simple rf pulses place severe limitations on the usefulness of the pulsed magnetic resonance methods in quantum computing applications. In particular, the fidelity of quantum logic operations performed on electron spin qubits falls well below the threshold for the application of quantum algorithms. Using three independent techniques, we demonstrate the use of composite pulses to improve this fidelity by several orders of magnitude. The observed high-fidelity operations are limited by pulse phase errors, but nevertheless fall within the limits required for the application of quantum error correction.  相似文献

A nonlinear (Kerr‐type) electromagnetic metamaterial, characterized by a double‐Lorentz model of its frequency‐dependent linear effective dielectric permittivity and magnetic permeability, is considered. The formation of gap solitons in the low‐ and high‐frequency band gaps of this metamaterial is investigated analytically. Evolution equations governing the gap solitons, of the form of a nonlinear Klein‐Gordon and a nonlinear Schrödinger equation, are obtained, and the structure of their solutions is discussed.  相似文献

Motivated by the possibility of observing photoluminescence and electron paramagnetic resonance from the same species located within a fullerene molecule, we initiated an EPR study of Er3+ in ErSc2N@C80. Two orientations of the ErSc2N rotor within the C80 fullerene are observed in EPR, consistent with earlier studies using photoluminescence excitation (PLE) spectroscopy. For some crystal field orientations, electron spin relaxation is driven by an Orbach process via the first excited electronic state of the 4I(15/2) multiplet. We observe a change in the relative populations of the two ErSc2N configurations upon the application of 532 nm illumination, and are thus able to switch the majority cage symmetry. This photoisomerization, observable by both EPR and PLE, is metastable, lasting many hours at 20 K.  相似文献

Low temperature photoluminescence (PL) and photoluminescence excitation (PLE) spectroscopy of high purity ErSc(2)N@C(80) and Er(2)ScN@C(80) fullerenes reveal at least two metastable configurations of the Er(3+) ion within the cage, consistent with previous observations from x-ray diffraction. Using PLE measurements at a number of different emission wavelengths we have characterized the ground state, (4)I(152), and the first excited state, (4)I(132), of the various Er(3+) configurations and their crystal-field splitting. We present detailed energy level diagrams for the ground and excited states of the two dominant configurations of ErSc(2)N@C(80) and Er(2)ScN@C(80).  相似文献

Trimetallic nitride template fullerenes have been deposited onto a variety of substrates in order to elucidate the substrate-fullerene interactions. We have investigated self-assembled island formation and molecular detail of Er3N@C80 and Sc3N@C80 on Ag/Si(1 1 1), Au(1 1 1)/mica, Si(1 1 1), and Si(0 0 1) using variable temperature scanning tunnelling microscopy (STM). At room temperature, the fullerenes self-assemble into monolayer-high hexagonal close-packed islands on Ag-passivated Si(1 1 1) whereas annealing at elevated temperatures (250-300 °C) is necessary for the self-assembly of close-packed islands on Au(1 1 1). Intra-molecular resolution of the fullerenes has been achieved at liquid nitrogen temperature on Ag/Si(1 1 1) and already at room temperature on Si(0 0 1), when the rotation of the fullerenes is frozen. Whereas the bonding between the fullerenes and Si surfaces is mainly covalent, it appears to be mainly van-der-Waals on the other surfaces.  相似文献

Poly(L-lactide) networks (PmLA) hydrophilized with different amounts of 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate (HEA) were investigated by dielectric relaxation spectroscopy, thermally stimulated depolarization currents, and differential scanning calorimetry. The incorporation of HEA units in the PmLA network, with the aim of modulating the water sorption capacity of the system, results in a material with a complex behavior. The system consists of phase-separated microdomains richer in one or the other comonomers that constitute the network. Initially, the addition of smalls amount of HEA units in the network gives rise to a one-phase, two-component system; however, when the amount of HEA in the system increases, a new phase (HEA-rich one) is formed containing some mLA chains that modify the main relaxation mode of these domains and the local dynamics of the system. The structure of the system has been analyzed by comparing the relaxational modes in the PmLA and PHEA homonetworks with those in the copolymer networks.  相似文献

The endohedral fullerene epoxide N@C60O was synthesised, isolated by High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), and characterised by Electron Spin Resonance (ESR). This nitrogen radical displays predominantly axial symmetry characteristics as expected for a monoadduct, evidenced by a zero-field splitting D parameter of 6.6 MHz and an E parameter of 0.5 MHz in powder at 77 K. Photo- and thermally-activated silencing of the nitrogen radical were observed, the latter showing the evolution of a new spin signal during heating at 100 degrees C. We suggest that loss of nitrogen spin is due to coupling with a radical formed by opening of the epoxide ring. This implies that the reaction of C60O with C60 in the solid state proceeds via a radical, rather than ionic, intermediate.  相似文献
