Large eddy simulation of a slot jet impinging on a convex surface

A large eddy simulation is used to simulate flow and heat transfer in a turbulent plane jet with two distances from the jet-exit to impingement corresponding to twice and ten times the slot nozzle width. The resolved different unsteady vortex motions of the jet shear layers are studied and shown to have an important influence on heat transfer at the wall. They are used to explain existence of the second peak in Nusselt number for the case corresponding to twice the slot nozzle width. The predicted average surface Nusselt number profiles exhibit good agreement with experiments.     

Phenylboronic acid as an efficient and convenient catalyst for a three-component synthesis of tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyrans

Phenylboronic acid, a non-toxic compound, is used as catalyst for an efficient, rapid, and one-pot three-component synthesis of tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyrans in good to excellent yields. This new procedure has the advantages of operational simplicity, shorter reaction time, higher yields and minimum pollution of the environment.     

Saturation spectra of low lying states of Nitrogen: reconciling experiment with theory

The hyperfine constants of the levels 2p ² \((^{3}\)P)3s ⁴P _J , 2p ² \((^3\)P)3p ⁴P\(^o_J\) and 2p ² \((^3\)P)3p ⁴D\(^o_J\), deduced by Jennerich et al. [Eur. Phys. J. D 40, 81 (2006)] from the observed hyperfine structures of the transitions 2p ² \((^3\)P)3s ⁴P _J \(\rightarrow\) 2p ² \((^3\)P)3p ⁴P\(^o_{J'}\) and 2p ² \((^3\)P)3s ⁴P _J \(\rightarrow\) 2p ² \((^3\)P)3p ⁴D\(^o_{J'}\) recorded by saturation spectroscopy in the near-infrared,strongly disagree with the ab initio values of Jönsson et al. [J. Phys. B: At. Mol.Opt. Phys. 43, 115006 (2010)].We propose a new interpretation of the recorded weak spectral lines. If the latter are indeed reinterpreted as crossover signals, a new set of experimental hyperfine constants is deduced, in very good agreement with the ab initio predictions.     

A law of the iterated logarithm for the product limit estimator with doubly censored data

We establish the law of the iterated logarithm for the product limit estimator, when the data are subject to double censoring. This investigation extends the results available for the model for singly censored data.
