Effects of a low molecular weight physically adsorbed polyethylene oxide (PEO) and the range of the electrostatic repulsion on the rheological behavior of silica dispersions (as a model system) has been investigated. Particular attention is given to the evolution of the rheological behavior with increasing the polymer concentration in the system and also effectiveness of the polymer as a dispersant under extreme conditions (high ionic strength). Results indicate that at small separation distances and low polymer coverage, the polymer chains are long enough to adsorb on the surface of two particles simultaneously causing bridging flocculation in the system and hence increasing the viscosity and linear viscoelastic functions of the dispersion. A significant increase was observed in the viscosity of the dispersion at salt concentrations high enough to eliminate electrostatics between the particles. Under these conditions,the viscosity of the system increased significantly when PEO was added to the dispersion showing that at high electrolyte concentrations, a neutral polymer such as PEO is not able to stabilize the system.  相似文献

The microbial transformation of (?)‐Ambrox® ( 1 ), a perfumery sesquiterpene, by a number of fungi, by means of standard two‐stage‐fermentation technique, afforded ambrox‐1α‐ol ( 2 ), ambrox‐1α,11α‐diol ( 3 ), ambrox‐1α,6α‐diol ( 4 ), ambrox‐1α,6α,11α‐triol ( 5 ), ambrox‐3‐one ( 6 ), ambrox‐3β‐ol ( 7 ), ambrox‐3β,6β‐diol ( 8 ), 13,14,15,16‐tetranorlabdane‐3,8,12‐triol ( 9 ), and sclareolide ( 10 ) (Schemes 1 and 2). Further incubation of compound 10 with Cunninghamella elegans afforded 3‐oxosclareolide ( 11 ), 3β‐hydroxysclareolide ( 12 ), 2α‐hydroxysclareolide ( 13 ), 2α,3β‐dihydroxysclareolide ( 14 ), 1α,3β‐dihydroxysclareolide ( 15 ), and 3β‐hydroxy‐8‐episclareolide ( 16 ) (Scheme 3). Metabolites 2 – 5, 12, 13 , and 16 were found to be new compounds. The major transformations include a reaction path involving hydroxylation, ether‐bond cleavage and inversion of configuration. Metabolites 11 – 16 of sclareolide showed significant phytotoxicity (Table 1). The structures of the metabolites were characterized on the basis of spectroscopic techniques.  相似文献

The microbial transformation of prednisone (17alpha,21-dihydroxy-pregna-1,4-diene-3,11,20-trione) (1) by Cunninghamella elegans afforded two metabolites, 17alpha,21-dihydroxy-5alpha-pregn-1-ene-3,11,20-trione (2) and 17alpha,20S,21-trihydroxy-5alpha-pregn-1-ene-3,11-dione (3), while the fermentation of 1 with Fusarium lini, Rhizopus stolonifer and Curvularia lunata afforded a metabolite 1,4-pregnadiene-17alpha,20S,21-triol-3,11-dione (4). Compound 3 was found to be a new metabolite. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic techniques. Compound 3 showed inhibitory activity against lipoxygenase enzyme.  相似文献

226Ra and232Th specific activities in coal from Maamba Collieries in Zambia have been measured at 46±8 and 56±9 Bq kg–1, respectively. These values are nearly two and a half times larger than the world average for coal and are close to those for lignite or brown coal. Determination of specific activities in coal waste at Maamba and coal ash at the fertilizer factory in Kafue showed enhancement factors of 2.6 and 2.0, respectively. These values are well within the world range of enhancement factors in coal ash.  相似文献

The molecular dipole moment changes upon 1nπ* and 3nπ* excitation of p-methylbenzaldehyde and p-chlorobenzaldehyde isolated in p-dimethoxybenzene host crystals have been determined from measurements of the Stark splittings in phosphorescence excitation and phosphorescence spectra. Within the experimental uncertainty, the changes are identical for the corresponding triplet and singlet states. This result contrasts with similar determinations for formaldehyde, benzophenone, and 4,4′-dichlorobenzophenone and with predictions based on simple molecular orbital and electron correlation arguments. The result is considered to be a consequence of a relatively large mixing of 3nμ* and 3μμ* states.  相似文献

The thermostability of Cromobacterium viscosum lip ase (EC 3.1.1.3) entrapped in AOT (sodium bis-[2-ethylhexyl] sulfosuccinate) reverse micelles was in creased by the addition of short-chain polyethylene glycol (PEG 400). Two different approaches were considered: (1) the determination of half-life time and (2) the mechanistic analysis of deactivation kinetics. The half-life of lipase entrapped in AOT/isooctane reverse micelles with PEG 400 at 60°C was 28h, ninefold higher than that in reverse micelles without PEG 400. The lip ase entrapped in both reverse micellar systems followed a series-type deactivation mechanism involving two first-order steps. The deactivation constant for the first step at 60°C in PEG containing reverse micelles was 0.055 h11, 11-fold lower than that in reverse micelles without PEG, whereas it remained almost constant for the second step. The inactivation energy of the lip ase entrapped in reverse micelles with and without PEG 400 was 88.12 and 21.97 kJ/mol, respectively.  相似文献

The decoloration yield of oxazine 720 in ethanolic solution was studied as a function of dose rate and concentration of the dye. Linear response for G values to a dose of 1.68 KGy was observed for various dye concentrations. The effect of various organic substances in the radiolysis of the dye was studied and the results were interpreted in terms of scavenging reactions.  相似文献

The flow behavior of bidisperse aqueous silica suspensions has been studied at different electrolyte concentrations as a function of shear rate, total volume fraction of the particles, and volume ratio of small to large particles. It is shown that the range of the electrostatic repulsion plays an important role in determining the viscosity of the suspension. Binary mixtures of particles of longer range repulsive forces showed higher viscosities than the suspensions of shorter range electrostatic interactions. Bimodal suspensions of long-range interactions showed non-Newtonian behavior over wider ranges of shear due to the deformation of the ionic cloud around the particles, which is larger in these systems. The viscosity of bimodal suspensions used in this study was scaled with respect to the viscosity of the related monosized systems and the viscosity of one bimodal suspension at a fixed total volume fraction of the particles, employing our earlier scaling method. The model normalizes the effect of colloidal forces by introducing a scaling factor that collapses the data into a single curve for bimodal suspensions of a particular size ratio, and it is shown that the model is valid for systems with both short-range and long-range repulsive forces. The popularity of electric vehicles (EVs) is constantly increasing, as they use relatively greener, sustainable energy. However, it is a fact that the charging stations for EVs are yet to meet the demand. It could be a great solution if a peer-to-peer (P2P) charging system could be initiated by anyone who wants to make their garage’s charge points publicly available for commercial purposes, named a home charging station (HCS). In this work, our idea is to bring interested charging stations under a network of nodes and a blockchain-based management system, where the blockchain is responsible for ensuring the authenticity of both the charging stations and charge receiver. A cryptocurrency-based payment system has also been proposed to ensure transactions’ security, integrity, transparency, and immutability. A reputation management system is applied to maintain the quality of service. Miners with high processing power are used to alleviate lagging during block creation, supported by edge servers. The proposed system has been implemented by using virtual machines. A theoretical analysis is presented to assess the compatibility and possible cost requirements to implement the system in a real-world scenario.  相似文献

Some soil microbes, with their diverse inhabitance, biologically active metabolites, and endospore formation, gave them characteristic predominance and recognition among other microbial communities. The present study collected ten soil samples from green land, agricultural and marshy soil sites of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. After culturing on described media, the bacterial isolates were identified through phenotypic, biochemical and phylogenetic analysis. Our phylogenetic analysis revealed three bacterial isolates, A6S7, A1S6, and A1S10, showing 99% nucleotides sequence similarity with Brevibacillus formosus, Bacillus Subtilis and Paenibacillus dendritiformis. The crude extract was prepared from bacterial isolates to assess the anti-bacterial potential against various targeted multidrug-resistant strains (MDRS), including Acinetobacter baumannii (ATCC 19606), Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) (BAA-1683), Klebsiella pneumoniae (ATCC 13883), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (BAA-2108), Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 292013), Escherichia coli (ATCC25922) and Salmonella typhi (ATCC 14028). Our analysis revealed that all bacterial extracts possess activity against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria at a concentration of 5 mg/mL, efficiently restricting the growth of E. coli compared with positive control ciprofloxacin. The study concluded that the identified species have the potential to produce antimicrobial compounds which can be used to control different microbial infections, especially MDRS. Moreover, the analysis of the bacterial extracts through GC-MS indicated the presence of different antimicrobial compounds such as propanoic acid, oxalic acid, phenol and hexadecanoic acid.  相似文献
