A simple but remarkably precise geometric pore-filling model is proposed and experimentally validated for the adsorption of proteins at their iso-electric point (pI) in nanoporous materials. Three different globular proteins-lysozyme, myoglobin, and bovine serum albumin-are used as model proteins to study protein adsorption on two types of ordered mesoporous materials-silica and carbon-which allows us to study the effects of protein and surface structure on the protein adsorption mechanism. The geometric pore-filling model confirms that proteins are closely packed inside the pore channels of mesoporous materials, leading to an exceptionally large protein loading capacity. A relationship for the amount of adsorbed protein as a function of protein size, nanopore volume, and pore diameter is derived. The pore space gradually fills up to complete packing of the available pore space at the highest protein concentration. The high precision of the geometric pore-filling model demonstrates its utility to predict the protein adsorption capacity of ordered nanoporous materials. 相似文献

The stereoselective synthesis of both cis- and trans-β-fluorostyrene derivatives from a common intermediate, (Z)-1-aryl-2-fluoro-1-(trimethylsilyl)ethenes, is described. The trans isomers are obtained by a stereospecific replacement of the silyl group in the presence of water and a fluoride source, whereas the preparation of the cis isomers is achieved by a bromination/desilicobromination sequence followed by reduction of the newly created C-Br bond. A stereoselective transformation of both stereoisomers of β-fluorostyrene is also presented. 相似文献

This work reviews methods for time-series analysis for characterization of the dynamics of gas–solid fluidized beds from in-bed pressure measurements for different fluidization regimes. The paper covers analysis in time domain, frequency domain, and in state space. It is a follow-up and an update of a similar review paper written a decade ago. We use the same pressure time-series as used by Johnsson et al. (2000). The paper updates the previous review and includes additional methods for time-series analysis, which have been proposed to investigate dynamics of gas–solid fluidized beds. Results and underlying assumptions of the methods are discussed. 相似文献
