The symmetric D ω -semi-classical orthogonal polynomials of class one

We give the system of Laguerre–Freud equations associated with the D _ω -semi-classical functionals of class one, where D _ω is the divided difference operator. This system is solved in the symmetric case. There are essentially two canonical cases. The corresponding integral representations are given.     

Surface plasmon resonance immunosensor for bacteria detection

This work describes an approach for the development of two bacteria biosensors based on surface plasmon resonance (SPR) technique. The first biosensor was based on functionalized gold substrate and the second one on immobilized gold nanoparticles. For the first biosensor, the gold substrate was functionalized with acid-thiol using the self-assembled monolayer technique, while the second one was functionalized with gold nanoparticles immobilized on modified gold substrate. A polyclonal anti-Escherichia coli antibody was immobilized for specific (E. coli) and non-specific (Lactobacillus) bacteria detection. Detection limit with a good reproducibility of 10⁴ and 10³ cfu mL⁻¹ of E. coli bacteria has been obtained for the first biosensor and for the second one respectively. A refractive index variation below 5 × 10⁻³ due to bacteria adsorption is able to be detected. The refractive index of the multilayer structure and of the E. coli bacteria layer was estimated with a modeling software.     

Evaluation of antileishmanial, cytotoxic and antioxidant activities of essential oils extracted from plants issued from the leishmaniasis-endemic region of Sned (Tunisia)

In this study, we tested 10 essential oils (EOs) extracted from 10 plants issued from Sned region (Tunisia) to evaluate both their leishmanicidal effects against Leishmania major and L. infantum, and their cytotoxicity against murine macrophage cell line RAW 264.7 (ATCC, TIB-71). The antioxidant activity was also monitored by the DDPH method, while the chemical composition of active EO was assessed by GC-MS analysis. The results showed that the EOs obtained from Thymus hirtus sp. algeriensis (rich on monoterpenoids, especially linalool at 17.62% and camphor at 13.82%) is significantly active against both L. major and L. infantum, whereas Ruta chalepensis EO (rich on 2-undecanone at 84.28%) is only active against L. infantum. Both oil extracts showed low cytotoxicity towards murine macrophages. The characteristic ratios (IC?? Raw264.7 cells/IC?? L. infantum and IC?? Raw264.7 cells/IC?? L. major) were, respectively, 2.7 and 1.57 for T. hirtus sp. algeriensis, and 1.34 and 0.19 for R. chalepensis. However, when measuring the antioxidant effects (DDPH method), the two latter EOs presented a moderate 2,2-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl hydrate scavenging effects compared to EOs from Eucaliptus globulus, Pinus halepensis, Pituranthos tortuosus, Rosmarinus officinalis, Tetraclinis articulata or to BHT.     

q-Extension of generalized Gegenbauer polynomials

We study in detail a q-extension of the generalized Gegenbauer form (functional). We show that it is symmetric H _q -semi-classical of class one. The moments and the integral representations are given.     

Integral and discrete representations of some Hq-semiclassical forms

The aim of this paper is to deduce integral and discrete representations of some H_q -semiclassical forms of class one. These forms were studied by B. Bouras and F. Marcellan in [1], (Quadratic decomposition of a family of Hq-semiclassical orthogonal polynomial sequences, J. Di?erence Equ. Appl. 18 (2012), 2039–2057), but unfortunately, the above problem of representation remained opened in that work. In this paper, we find the moments investigate the of theses forms to solve this problem.     

Electrochemical Sensors Based on Au Nanoparticles Decorated Pyrene-Reduced Graphene Oxide for Hydrazine, 4-Nitrophenol and Hg2+ Detection in Water

Monitoring hazardous chemical compounds such as hydrazine (N₂H₄), 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) and Hg²⁺ in natural water resources is a crucial issue due to their toxic effects on human health and catastrophic impact on the environment. Electrochemical nanostructured platforms integrating hybrid nanocomposites based on graphene derivatives and inorganic nanoparticles (NPs) are of great interest for such a purpose. In this work, disposable screen-printed carbon electrodes (SPCEs) have been modified with a hybrid nanocomposite formed by reduced graphene oxide (RGO), functionalized by 1-pyrene carboxylic acid (PCA), and decorated by colloidal Au NPs. These hybrid platforms have been tested for the electrocatalytic detection of N₂H₄ and 4-NP by differential pulse voltammetry and have been modified with an electropolymerized film of Hg²⁺ ions imprinted polycurcumin for the electroanalytical detection of Hg²⁺ by DPV. LODs, lower and in line with the lowest ones reported for state-of-the-art electrochemical sensors, integrating similar Au-graphene < nanocomposites, have been estimated. Additionally, good repeatability, reproducibility, and storage stability have been assessed, as well as a high selectivity in the presence of a 100-fold higher concentration of interfering species. The applicability of the proposed platforms for the detection of the compounds in real complex matrices, such as tap and river water samples, has been effectively demonstrated.     

Electronic and optical properties of Cd1-xZnxS nanocrystals

We report a numerical simulation of the conduction and valence band edges of Cd_1-xZn_xS nanocrystallites using a one — dimensional potential model. Electron — hole pairs are assumed to be confined in nanospheres of finite barrier heights. Optical absorption measurements are used to fit the bandgap of the Cd_1-xZn_xS nanocrystal material. A theoretical analysis is also made to calculate the energy location of bound excitons and the oscillator strength of interband transitions as a function of zinc composition. The aim of the latter study is to investigate the optical behavior of Cd_1-xZn_xS nanocrystals. An attempt to explain all the results is presented.
