On the geometries of the rational unfoldings of X k

With a view to applications to self-regulating dynamical processes in biology, we determine the geometric structure of what we call isotangent curves, i.e. curves parametrized by the slopes of their points. They come up naturally as bifurcation curves of rational unfoldings of X ^k, and we classify them according to degree and number of cusps. They, as well as their isotangent involute curves, turn up in simulations of these processes.

The six-membered annulation reaction involving sequential palladium-catalyzed allylic alkylation and Michael addition: scope and limitations

The palladium-catalyzed condensation of a variety of active methylene compounds with methyl 6-acetoxymethyl-hepta-2,6-dienoate was investigated. The six-membered adducts resulting from a η³ palladium complex alkylation-Michael addition sequence were obtained with moderate to good yields. In some cases, further evolution of the primary adduct was observed. The process has been expanded to access nitrogen heterocycles by using sodium p-toluenesulfonamide as the nucleophilic partner.     

Smenoqualone a novel sesquiterpenoid from the marine sponge Smenospongia sp.

Smenoqualone, a novel quinonic terpenoid with a rearranged drimane skeleton was isolated from a marine sponge Smenospongia sp. The stereostructure was determined by detailed analyses of ¹H and ¹³C NMR spectra, ¹H-¹H COSY, ¹H-¹³C correlations via HMQC, HMBC and NOE difference NMR experiments.     

Verwendung von Carboxylpapier in der Papierchromatographie

Zusammenfassung Bei der Chromatographie auf Carboxylpapier herrschen definierte Ionenaustauschvorgänge vor, die sich theoretisch näherungsweise ableiten lassen. Durch Variation von Carboxylgehalt und austauschfähigem Kation im Papier, sowie vonph-Wert, Pufferkapazität und Kationenstärke in der entwickelnden Lösung ist es möglich, die für die chromatographische Trennung der drei basischen Aminosäuren günstigsten Bedingungen festzustellen. Es ist zu erwarten, daß sich auf Carboxylpapier weitere, kationenbildende Stoffe trennen lassen, die sich entweder in ihrer Affinität zur Oxycellulose oder in ihrer Basizität oder in beidem voneinander unterscheiden.Die Arbeit wurde durch wertvolle Kritik von Herrn Professor Dr. Th. Wieland gefördert. Wesentliche Anregungen stammen auch von Herrn Dr. W. Vollmer. Im Labor wurden die Chromatogramme sämtlich von Frau E. v. Dungen ausgeführt.     

Heterogeneous diastereoselective hydrogenation of pyridine and corresponding enamine covalently bound to pantolactone

The diastereoselective hydrogenation of 2-methyl nicotinic acid covalently bound to pantolactone was studied over supported metallic catalysts. With this chiral auxiliary, a two-steps reaction was observed with formation of tetrahydropyridine intermediate. The influence of different reaction parameters on the diastereoselectivity of the hydrogenation of pyridine and enamine substrates was studied.     

Strengthening the Connection between Science,Society and Environment to Develop Future French and European Bioeconomies: Cutting-Edge Research of VAALBIO Team at UCCS

The development of the future French and European bioeconomies will involve developing new green chemical processes in which catalytic transformations are key. The VAALBIO team (valorization of alkanes and biomass) of the UCCS laboratory (Unité de Catalyse et Chimie du Solide) are working on various catalytic processes, either developing new catalysts and/or designing the whole catalytic processes. Our research is focused on both the fundamental and applied aspects of the processes. Through this review paper, we demonstrate the main topics developed by our team focusing mostly on oxygen- and hydrogen-related processes as well as on green hydrogen production and hybrid catalysis. The social impacts of the bioeconomy are also discussed applying the concept of the institutional compass.     

Nucleon-nucleon interaction and some reactions with3He,3H

Experimental measurements and theoretical calculations are discussed for theA = 3 nuclei. With the sum rule formalism, the need for a better bound state is investigated. Some reactions on³He and³H like electron scattering, photodisintegration,-capture involve transitions to the continuum but with the work developed by Merkuriev, Gignoux and Laverne (1976) some progress is possible. The same realisticNN interactions used for calculating the bound state wave function of the three nucleon system are incorporated in the scattering equations based on the Faddeev approach.Presented at the symposium Mesons and Light Nuclei, Bechyn, Czechoslovakia, May 27–June 1, 1985.     

Glycosylation sites of hemocyanins of Helix pomatia and Sepia officinalis

Glycopeptides were isolated from functional units of two molluscan hemocyanins (Hcs). They were analyzed and localized in the sequences. A comparison with potential N-glycosylation sites of two other molluscan Hcs was made. An immunological cross-reactivity was observed between the beta-Hc and the alpha-macroglobulin of Helix pomotia. ELISA experiments with glycopeptide fractions indicated a competition.
