Measurements of the transmission of XeCl excimer laser pulses (308 nm) through optical all-silica fibers are reported. The observed photodegradation effects during long time irradiation are dependent on the laser energy density and the laser repetition rate. Also the influence of the fiber drawing parameters and fiber geometry have been investigated. Absorption spectra of the fibers in the wavelength range from 200nm to 400nm before and after the irradiation with the excimer laser give some insight in the physical reasons for the changes in transmission properties. Linear nanotubular boron-carbon heterojunctions are systematically constructed and studied with the help of ab initio total energy calculations. The structural compatibility of the two classes of materials is shown, and a simple recipe that determines all types of stable linear junctions is illustrated in some detail. Our results also suggest the compatibility of various technologically interesting types of nanotubular materials, leading to different types of nanotubular compound materials, and pointing out the possibility of wiring nanotubular devices within heterogeneous nanotubular networks. 相似文献

We study -spectral properties of Neumann Laplacians on some planar domains and show by calculation that the essential spectrum of the
Neumann Laplacian on certain horns depends on p. The proof uses ideas due to E.B. Davies and B. Simon for the reduction to one-dimensional operators and techniques involving
Gaussian bounds. For domains looking like comets or stars, i.e. having countably many horn-shaped outlets, we prove a decoupling-reduction
result. These results are used to construct planar domains for which the Neumann Laplacian has maximal -spectrum in the class of generators of symmetric submarkovian semigroups.
