We study the dynamics of tethered chains of length N on adsorbing surfaces, considering the dilute case; for this we use the bond fluctuation model and scaling concepts. In particular, we focus on the mean-square displacement of single monomers and of the center of mass of the chains. The characteristic time tau of the fluctuations of a free chain in a good solvent grows as tau approximately N(a), where the coefficient a obeys a=2nu+1. We show that the same coefficient also holds at the critical point of adsorption. At intermediate time scales single monomers show subdiffusive behavior; this concurs with the behavior calculated from scaling arguments based on the dynamical exponent a. In the adsorbed state tau(perpendicular), the time scale for the relaxation in the direction perpendicular to the surface, becomes independent of N; tau(perpendicular) is then the relaxation time of an adsorption blob. In the direction parallel to the surface the motion is similar to that of a two-dimensional chain and is controlled by a time scale given by tau(parallel) approximately N(2nu(2)+1)L(-2Delta(nu/nu)), where nu(2) is the Flory exponent in two dimensions, nu is the Flory exponent in three dimensions, and Deltanu=nu(2)-nu. For the motion parallel to the surface we find dynamical scaling over a range of about four decades in time.  相似文献

Phenylmethanimine is an aromatic imine with a twofold relevance in chemistry: organic synthesis and astrochemistry. To tackle both aspects, a multidisciplinary strategy has been exploited and a new, easily accessible synthetic approach to generate stable imine-intermediates in the gas phase and in solution has been introduced. The combination of this formation pathway, based on the thermal decomposition of hydrobenzamide, with a state-of-the-art computational characterization of phenylmethanimine laid the foundation for its first laboratory observation by means of rotational electric resonance spectroscopy. Both E and Z isomers have been accurately characterized, thus providing a reliable basis to guide future astronomical observations. A further characterization has been carried out by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, showing the feasibility of this synthetic approach in solution. The temperature dependence as well as possible mechanisms of the thermolysis process have been examined.  相似文献

The microwave spectra of the natural substance coumarin, a planar aromatic molecule with the specific scent of maibowle, a popular fruit punch served in spring and early summer, were recorded using a molecular jet Fourier transform microwave spectrometer working in the frequency range from 4.0 to 26.5 GHz. The rotational constants and centrifugal distortion constants were determined with high precision, reproducing the spectra to experimental accuracy. The spectra of all singly-substituted 13C and 18O isotopologues were observed in their natural abundances to determine the experimental heavy atom substitution rs and semi-experimental equilibrium reSE structures. The experimental bond lengths and bond angles were compared to those obtained from quantum chemical calculations and those of related molecules reported in the literature with benzene as the prototype. The alternation of the C−C bond lengths to the value of 1.39 Å found for benzene reflects the localization of π electrons in coumarin, where the benzene ring and the lactone-like chain −CH=CH−(C=O)−O− are fused. The large, negative inertial defect of coumarin is consistent with out-of-plane vibrations of the fused rings.  相似文献

Using the continous Edwards–chain model the simultaneous influence of harmonic–like constraints and of a stochastic order parameter field on the segment orientation in polymer networks is investigated. The harmonic potential reduces the orientation order parameter in comparison to the value for an unconstrained freely jointed chain. This reference value is approached from below in the case of strong topological constraints. The introduction of a stochastic order parameter field enlarges the orientation but the reference value remains the upper boundary.  相似文献

In support of a deeper understanding of the chemistry of cyanoacetylene--a known constituent of planetary atmospheres and interstellar space--theoretical and experimental studies address the chemical mechanism of dimerization and trimerization, and provide high-resolution rotational spectra of two of the trimeric products, 1,2,3- and 1,2,4-tricyanobenzene. Analysis of the rotational spectra is particularly challenging because of quadrupolar coupling from three (14)N nuclei. The laboratory rotational spectra provide the basis for future searches for these polar aromatic compounds in interstellar space by radio astronomy.  相似文献

Nicotine has been investigated in the gas phase and two conformational forms were characterized through their rotational spectra. Two spectroscopic techniques have been used to obtain the spectra: a new design of broadband Fourier transform microwave (FTMW) spectroscopy with an in-phase/quadrature-phase-modulation passage-acquired-coherence technique (IMPACT) and narrowband FTMW spectroscopy with coaxially oriented beam-resonator arrangement (COBRA). The rotational, centrifugal distortion and hyperfine quadrupole coupling constants of two conformers of nicotine have been determined and found to be in N-methyl trans configurations with the pyridine and pyrrolidine rings perpendicular to one another. The quadrupole hyperfine structure originated by two (14)N nuclei has been completely resolved for both conformers and used for their unambiguous identification.  相似文献

The conformational and structural properties of the inhalational anesthetic isoflurane (1-chloro-2,2,2-trifluoroethyl difluoromethyl ether) have been probed in a supersonic jet expansion using Fourier-transform microwave (FT-MW) spectroscopy. Two conformers of the isolated molecule were identified from the rotational spectrum of the parent and several (37)Cl and (13)C isotopologues detected in natural abundance. The two most stable structures of isoflurane are characterized by an anti carbon skeleton (τ(C(1)-C(2)-O-C(3)) = 137.8(11)° or 167.4(19)°), differing in the trans (AT) or gauche (AG) orientation of the difluoromethyl group. The conformational abundances in the jet were estimated from relative intensity measurements as (AT)/(AG) ≈ 3:1. The structural preferences of the molecule have been rationalized with supporting ab initio calculations and natural-bond-orbital (NBO) analysis, which suggest that the molecule is stabilized by hyperconjugative effects. The NBO analysis of donor-acceptor (LP → σ*) interactions showed that these stereoelectronic effects decrease from the AT to AG conformations, so the conformational preferences can be accounted for in terms of the generalized anomeric effect.  相似文献
