Plastic flow macrolocalization in aluminum and the Hall-Petch relation

The parameters of plastic deformation macrolocalization are compared to the parameters of the Hall-Petch relation for the flow stress in polycrystalline aluminum samples with a grain size of 0.008–5.000 mm. Two types of the dependence of the localized plastic deformation autowave length on the grain size and two versions of hardening according to the Hall-Petch relation are found in the grain size range under study. The boundary between these versions is shown to correspond to d ≈ 0.1 mm for both cases. A relation between localized plastic flow patterns and the Hall-Petch relation is revealed.     

Some peculiarities of the photocatalytic oxidation of hydrocarbons by hydrogen peroxide on a heterogeneous catalyst: Titanium silicalite

Data on the effect of the type and intensity of irradiation on the basic characteristics of the process and distribution of products of catalytic liquid-phase oxidation of hydrocarbons were obtained using as an example the oxidation of n-dodecane by hydrogen peroxide aqueous solutions on the heterogeneous catalyst: titanium silicalite.     

Ion-ion and ion-dipole interactions in acid and alkaline glycine solutions

Glycine solutions were studied by conductometric and viscosimetric methods. Different character of the concentration dependences of the electrical conductivity and viscosity in the acid and alkaline solutions of the aminoacid is revealed. The experimental concentration dependences of the electrical conductivity and viscosity of the glycine alkaline solutions show extremes. It is suggested that the solvent structure is decomposed under the action of the glycine zwitterions in the 0.001 M NaOH + glycine + H₂O at the aminoacid concentration up less than 0.025 M; further increase in the aminoacid concentration leads to new hydrogen bonds formation between water dipoles and the zwitterions. This suggestion is corroborated by calculations based on the Jones-Dole equation.
