We report on experiments that evaluate the potential of terahertz (THz) time-domain spectroscopy (TDS) for quality control of polymeric compounds. We investigate specimens out of a polyethylene compound with silver-coated titanium dioxide nanospheres and a glass-fiber reinforced epoxy composite. We further examine an industrial polymer product produced by injection molding. Our data demonstrates that THz imaging is a powerful tool for contactless quality control in the polymer industry.  相似文献

Transverse flow transversely excited (TFTE) CO2 lasers are easily scalable to multikilowatt level. The laser power can be scaled up by increasing the volumetric gas flow and discharge volume. It was observed in a TFTE CW CO2 laser having single row of pins as an anode and tubular cathode that the laser power was not increasing when the discharge volume and the gas volumetric flow were increased by increasing the electrode separation keeping the gas flow velocity constant. The discharge voltage too remained almost constant with the change of electrode separation at the same gas flow velocity. This necessitated revision of the scaling laws for designing this type of high power CO2 laser. Experimental results of laser performance for different electrode separations are discussed and the modifications in the scaling laws are presented.  相似文献

Mechanoluminescence (ML) and thermoluminescence (TL) in barium zirconium titanate (BZT) is reported for the first time. The BZT powder sample, belonging to perovskite category is synthesized using solid state reaction technique. The sample is prepared at a temperature of 1200 °C. The obtained specimen is thoroughly characterized paying particular attention to their structure, composition, morphology and optical properties. The surface morphology and structural properties are analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). XRD patterns confirm the formation of crystalline perovskite type cubic structure. Also, highly agglomerated, porous and regular shaped particles are seen by SEM. The optical properties of as prepared sample is presented and discussed in terms of ML and TL. The ML intensity is found to be maximum for the sample irradiated for 10 min. More than one maxima in TL glow curve reveals that the traps are distributed in separate groups at different depths and corresponding values are calculated using initial rise method.  相似文献

Human brain bacterial meningitis is a life-threatening disease caused mainly by Neisseria meningitidis, lead to damage of the outer membrane covering (meninges) of brain or even death. The usual methods of diagnosis are either time-consuming or have some limitations. The specific rmpM (reduction-modifiable protein M) virulent gene based genosensor is more sensitive, specific, and can detect N. meningitidis directly from the patient cerebrospinal fluid in 30 min including 1-min response time. 5′-Thiol-labeled single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) probe was immobilized onto screen-printed gold electrode (SPGE) and hybridized with denatured (95 °C) single-stranded genomic DNA (ssG-DNA) for 10 min at 25 °C. The electrochemical response was measured by cyclic voltammetry, differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) and electrochemical impedance using redox indicators. The sensitivity of the genosensor was 9.5087?(μA/cm2)/ng with DPV and limit of detection was 3 ng/6 μL ssG-DNA. The immobilization of the ssDNA probe and hybridization with ssG-DNA from N. meningitidis was characterized by atomic force microscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The rmpM genosensor was stable for 6 months at 4 °C with 10 % loss in initial DPV current. The advantage of rmpM genosensor is to detect bacterial meningitis simultaneously in multiple patients using SPGE array during an outbreak of the disease.  相似文献

This short review is focused on recent findings on the role of ionic liquids (ILs) in catalysing the hydrogenation of levulinic acid (LA) to gamma valerolactone (GVL), which is a cascade reaction involving more than one type of reaction. A brief introduction on green aspects of IL as a catalyst followed by various types of ILs being used for hydrogenation of LA to GVL are discussed. The unique characteristics of ILs responsible for hydrogenation reaction are also explained along with the current and upcoming scenario of IL catalysed hydrogenation of LA to GVL.  相似文献

Uses of plants extracts are found to be more advantageous over chemical, physical and microbial (bacterial, fungal, algal) methods for silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) synthesis. In phytonanosynthesis, biochemical diversity of plant extract, non-pathogenicity, low cost and flexibility in reaction parameters are accounted for high rate of AgNPs production with different shape, size and applications. At the same time, care has to be taken to select suitable phytofactory for AgNPs synthesis based on certain parameters such as easy availability, large-scale nanosynthesis potential and non-toxic nature of plant extract. This review focuses on synthesis of AgNPs with particular emphasis on biological synthesis using plant extracts. Some points have been given on selection of plant extract for AgNPs synthesis and case studies on AgNPs synthesis using different plant extracts. Reaction parameters contributing to higher yield of nanoparticles are presented here. Synthesis mechanisms and overview of present and future applications of plant-extract-synthesized AgNPs are also discussed here. Limitations associated with use of AgNPs are summarised in the present review.  相似文献

Herein, we report the synthesis of specific silica-supported Co/Co3O4 core–shell based nanoparticles prepared by template synthesis of cobalt-pyromellitic acid on silica and subsequent pyrolysis. The optimal catalyst material allows for general and selective hydrogenation of pyridines, quinolines, and other heteroarenes including acridine, phenanthroline, naphthyridine, quinoxaline, imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine, and indole under comparably mild reaction conditions. In addition, recycling of these Co nanoparticles and their ability for dehydrogenation catalysis are showcased.  相似文献
