Preparation of 1,2,3,4,7,7-Hexachlörobicyclo[2.2.1] hepta-2,5-diene by condensation of Hexachlorocyclopentadiene with acetylene

Summary 1,2,3,4,7,7-Hexachlorobicyclo[2.2.1] hepta2, 5- diene, a starting material for the synthesis of the insecticides isodrin and endrin, was prepared by condensation of hexachlorocyclopentadiene with acetylene under pressure.     

Polymeric Pd catalysts for the reduction of acetamidocinnamic acid azlactone and its solvolysis products

Pd complexes have been obtained from linear and cross-linked copolymers ofR,S-, R-, andS-1-(4-vinylphenyl)ethylamine (1) with styrene and divinylbenzene. Reduction of these compounds gave catalysts which were active in the reductive solvolysis of -acetaminocinnamic acid azlactone (2) and hydrogenation of the solvolysis products -acetamidocinnamic acid (ACA), its esters, and its 1-phenylethylamide. The catalysts showed no enantioselective properties in the reductive hydrolysis, but were more active than the catalyst obtained in the absence of the polymer (the monomeric analog). The use of polymeric catalysts has shown that, in reductive aminolysis, the chiral nucleophile plays the dominant part in determining the stereoselectivity of the reaction, rather than the chiral ligand of the catalytic complex. The polymer matrix stabilizes the low-valent state of the palladium in the complex. In the hydrogenation of ACA and its esters, the catalyst on the cross-linked polymer is much more active than its monomeric analog, but showed no enantioselectivity. Hydrogenation of acetamidocinnamic acidR-andS-1-phenylethylamides on a chiral Pd-polymer catalyst occurred with double asymmetric induction.Deceased.N. D. Funktionalisierte Alkinkomplexe von Wolfram(VI). Synthese und Kristallstrukturen von [WCl4(Et?Se?CC?Se?Et)(THF)] und [WCl4(Et?Te?CC?Te?Et)(THF)]

Functionalized Alkyne Complexes of Tungsten(VI). Syntheses and Crystal Structures of [WCl₄(Et? Se? C?C? Se? Et)(THF)] and [WCl₄(Et? Te? C?C? Te? Et)(THF)] The title compounds have been prepared by reactions of [WCl₄(SEt₂)₂] with the alkynes Et? X? C?C? X? Et (X = Se, Te) in CCl₄ solution and subsequent addition of tetrahydrofurane. Both complexes were characterized by crystal structure determinations. [WCl₄(Et? Se? C?C? Se? Et)(THF)]: Space group P2₁/n, Z = 4, structure determination with 2942 unique reflections, R = 0.038. Lattice dimensions at 20°C: a = 934.2, b = 1639.5, c = 1189.5 pm, β = 96.497°. [WCl₄(Et? Te? C?C? Te? Et)(THF)]: Space group P2₁/n, Z = 4, structure determination with 4097 unique reflections, R = 0.067, Lattice dimensions at ?70°C: a = 899.2, b = 1691.9, c = 1213.3 pm, β = 96.82°. The complexes have monomeric molecular structures with the oxygen atom of the THF molecules in trans-position to the side-on bound alkyne ligands.
