The characteristic collision energy (CCE) to obtain 50% fragmentation of positively and negatively single charged noncovalent clusters has been measured. CCE was found to increase linearly with the degrees of freedom (DoF) of the precursor ion, analogously to that observed for synthetic polymers. This suggests that fragmentation behavior (e.g. energy randomization) in covalent molecules and clusters are similar. Analysis of the slope of CCE with molecular size (DoF) indicates that activation energy of fragmentation of these clusters (loss of a monomer unit) is similar to that of the lowest energy fragmentation of protonated leucine–enkephalin. Positively and negatively charged aggregates behave similarly, but the slope of the CCE versus DoF plot is steeper for positive ions, suggesting that these are more stable than their negative counterparts. The enhancement by water molecules of the catalytic activity of gas-phase and supported gold nanoclusters toward CO oxidation is investigated with first-principles calculations. Coadsorption of H(2)O and O(2) leads to formation of a complex well bound to the gold cluster, even on a defect-free MgO(100) support. Formation of the complex involves partial proton sharing between the adsorbates, that in certain configurations results in proton transfer leading to the appearance of a hydroperoxyl-like complex. The O-O bond is activated, leading to a weakened peroxo or superoxolike state, and consequently the reaction with CO to form CO2 occurs with a small activation barrier of approximately 0.5 eV. A complete catalytic cycle of the water-enhanced CO oxidation is discussed.  相似文献

Liquid Phase Photo-Deposition (LPPD) technique has been used to obtain both colloidal particles and thin films of metallic and chloride nickel from solutions of only precursor Ni(acac)2 (acac=2,4-pentandionato). Metallic nickel was obtained from ethanol solutions by direct nickel(II) photoreduction at 254 nm and by acetone sensitised reaction at 300 nm. In this latter process the rate was higher than in the first one. NiCl2 was formed from CCl4 solution by a solvent-initiated reaction. TEM analysis, performed on colloidal particles of nickel, showed that their dimensions are in the range 2–4 nm. The films did not present carbon contamination and were characterized by AFM, XPS and GIXRD. Metallic films consisted of particles of 20–40 nm that are the result of the aggregation of smaller crystallites (4–5 nm). Larger agglomerations (around 200 nm) have been observed for NiCl2 films.  相似文献

Nitridation of hydrogen-terminated silicon in a diluted N2:N2O atmosphere was studied by X-ray photoemission spectroscopy and high-resolution electron microscopy. Our analysis showed that the broad N(1s) peak of width 1.5 eV at 398–399 eV, usually reported in the literature, is preceded by the formation of a narrow peak of width around 1.0 eV at 397.5 eV, attributed to the moiety Si3N in which silicon is only marginally oxidized, and two other peaks at 400.0 eV and 401.5 eV, attributed to the moieties Si2NOSi and SiNO, respectively.
