The formation and extraction into chloroform of iron complex with PASH (λmax = 640 nm) was studied. Beer's law is obeyed between 2.7 and 16.0 μg · ml−1 of iron, in organic phase (10 ml). The method can be applied to volume ratios Vaq.:Vorg. from 1:1 to 20:1. The minimum concentration determinable in aqueous phase is 135 ng ml−1 of iron. The interferences of 73 species were evaluated and eliminated when it was possible. The extraction method of the green complex was applied for the spectrophotometric determination of iron(II) in several standard, geochemical, and bromatological samples. A procedure based on the standard addition method was applied satisfactorily to the determination of as little as 25 ng of iron(II) per milliliter. 相似文献

Subpicosecond transient absorption studies are reported for a set of Rhodobacter (R.) capsulatus bacterial photosynthetic reaction centers (RCs) designed to probe the origins of the unidirectionality of charge separation via one of two electron transport chains in the native pigment-protein complex. All of the RCs have been engineered to contain a heterodimeric primary electron donor (D) consisting of a bacteriochlorophyll (BChl) and a bacteriopheophytin (BPh). The BPh component of the M heterodimer (Mhd) or L heterodimer (Lhd) is introduced by substituting a Leu for His M200 or His L173, respectively. Previous work on primary charge separation in heterodimer mutants has not included the Lhd RC from R. capsulatus, which we report for the first time. The Lhd and Mhd RCs are used as controls against which we assess RCs that combine the heterodimer mutations with a second mutation (His substituted for Leu at M212) that results in replacement of the native L-side BPh acceptor with a BChl (beta). The transient absorption spectra reveal clear evidence for charge separation to the normally inactive M-side BPh acceptor (H(M)) in Lhd-beta RCs to form D+H(M)- with a yield of approximately 6%. This state also forms in Mhd-beta RCs but with about one-quarter the yield. In both RCs, deactivation to the ground state is the predominant pathway of D decay, as it is in the Mhd and Lhd single mutants. Analysis of the results indicates an upper limit ofV2L/V2m < or = 4 for the contribution of the electronic coupling elements to the relative rates of electron transfer to the L versus M sides of the wild-type RC. In comparison to the L/M rate ratio (kL/kM) approximately 30 for wild-type RCs, our findings indicate that electronic factors contribute approximately 35% at most to directionality with the other 65% deriving from energetic considerations, which includes differences in free energies, reorganization energies, and contributions of one- and two-step mechanisms on the two sides of the RC. 相似文献

The reaction of nitric oxide with the carboxylate-bridged diiron(II) complex [Fe(2)(Et-HPTB)(O(2)CPh)](BF(4))(2) (1a) afforded the dinitrosyl adduct, [Fe(2)(NO)(2)(Et-HPTB)(O(2)CPh)](BF(4))(2) (1b), where Et-HPTB = N,N,N',N'-tetrakis(N-ethyl-2-benzimidazolylmethyl)-2-hydroxy-1,3-diaminopropane, in 69% yield. Compound 1b further reacts with dioxygen to form the bis(nitrato) complex, [Fe(2)(Et-HPTB)(NO(3))(2)(OH)](BF(4))(2) (1c). The structure of 1b was determined by X-ray crystallography (triclinic, P&onemacr;, a = 13.5765(8) ?, b = 15.4088(10) ?, c = 16.2145(10) ?, alpha = 73.656(1) degrees, beta = 73.546(1) degrees, gamma = 73.499(1) degrees, V = 3043.8(7) ?(3), T = -80 degrees C, Z = 2, and R = 0.085 and R(w) = 0.095 for 5644 independent reflections with I > 3sigma(I)). The two nitrosyl units are equivalent with an average Fe-N-O angle of 167.4 +/- 0.8 degrees. Spectroscopic characterization of solid 1b revealed an NO stretch at 1785 cm(-)(1) in the infrared and M?ssbauer parameters of delta = 0.67 mm s(-)(1) and DeltaE(Q) = 1.44 mm s(-)(1) at 4.2 K. These data are comparable to those for other {FeNO}(7) systems. An S = (3)/(2) spin state was assigned from magnetic susceptibility studies to the two individual {FeNO} centers, each of which has a nitrosyl ligand antiferromagnetically coupled to iron. A least-squares fit of the chi vs temperature plots to a theoretical model yielded an exchange coupling constant J of -23 cm(-)(1), where H = -2JS(1).S(2), indicating that the two S = (3)/(2) centers are antiferromagnetically coupled to one another. An extended Hückel calculation on a model complex, [Fe(2)(NO)(2)(NH(3))(6)(O(2)CH)(OH)](2+), revealed that the magnitudes of Fe-N-O angles are dictated by pi-bonding interactions between the Fe d(xz)() and NO pi orbitals. 相似文献

Hydrogen peroxide can be catalyzed to bleach cotton fibers at temperatures as low as 30°C by incorporating dinuclear tri-μ-oxo
bridged manganese(IV) complex of the ligand 1,4,7-trimethyl-1,4,7-triazacyclononane (MnTACN) as the catalyst in the bleaching
solution. The catalytic system was found to be more selective under the conditions applied than the non-catalytic H2O2 system, showing better bleaching performance while causing slightly lower decrease in degree of polymerization (DP) of cellulose.
In order to gain fundamental knowledge of the bleach effect on cotton fibers and cellulose as its main component, especially
after catalytic bleaching, X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) was used to study surface chemical effects. The Washburn
method was applied to investigate wetting properties, and liquid porosity was used to obtain pore volume distribution (PVD)
plots. Parallel analyzes performed on model cotton fabric, i.e. “clean” cotton fabric stained with morin - a pigment regularly
found in native cotton fiber, helped to differentiate between pigment oxidation and other bleaching effects produced on the
(regular) industrially scoured cotton fabric. Bleaching was not limited to the chemical action but also affected cotton fiber

The synthesis by emulsion polymerization and the characterization by a battery of techniques of poly(butyl acrylate-co-silver acrylate) [poly(BuAc-co-AgAc)] ionomers are reported here. Reaction rates were fast and conversions around 90% were obtained in less than one hour, regardless of the initial ratio of butyl acrylate and silver acrylate employed (BuAc/AgAc = 90/10, 80/20, 70/30). Particle size was in the range of 176 to 200 nm, depending on the BuAc/AgAc ratio. Ionomers’ formation was corroborated by infrared spectroscopy and inferred by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). DSC disclosed that the poly(BuAc-co-AgAc) has two glass transition temperatures: one at ca. ?49°C due to relaxation of the ionomer backbone domains rich in BuAc and another ca. 35°C due to the relaxation of the backbone domains where the AgAc-units content was higher. Young moduli increased as the copolymers became richer in AgAc. Antibacterial tests against Escherichia coli with the 90/10 (BuAc/AgAc) ionomer revealed that the bacteria population diminishes from 5 log CFU/mL to less than 0.3 MPN/mL after one hour of contact with the ionomers. Also, we demonstrated that the ionomers are excellent compatibilizers for making semiconductive films of n-dodecylbenzene sulfonic acid-doped polyaniline (PANIDBSA)-poly(BuAc-co-AgAc) and poly(n-butyl methacrylate) (PBMA) blends. Herein we have reviewed our recent developments for the identification of new tacrine analogues for Alzheimer's disease (AD) therapy. Tacrine, the first cholinesterase inhibitor approved for AD treatment, did not stop the progression of AD, producing only some cognitive improvements, but exhibited secondary effects mainly due to its hepatotoxicity. Thus, the drug was withdrawn from the clinics administration. Since then, many publications have described non‐hepatotoxic tacrines, and in addition, important efforts have been made to design multitarget tacrines by combining their cholinesterase inhibition profile with the modulation of other biological targets involved in AD. 相似文献
