The time delay experiment proposed by I.I. Shapiro in 1964 and conducted in the seventies was the most precise experiment of general relativity until that time. Further experimentation has improved the accuracy level of both the time delay and the light deflection experiments. A simulation model is proposed that involves only a simple mass and time transformation factor involving velocity of light. The light deflection and the time delay experiments are numerically simulated using this model that does not use the general relativistic equations. The computed values presented in this paper compare well with recent levels of accuracy of their respective experimental results.  相似文献

We present two new variants of Schur complement domain decompositionpreconditioners suitable for 2D anisotropic problems. Thesevariants are based on adaptations of the probing idea, describedby Chan et al (1992 Fifth Int. Symp. on Domain DecompositionMethods for Partial Differential Equations, Philadelphia: SIAM,pp 236-249), used in conjunction with a coarse grid approximationas introduced by Bramble et al (1986 Math. Comput. 47, 103-134).The new methods are specifically designed for situations wherethe coupling between neighbouring interfaces is stronger thanthe coupling within an interface. Taking into account this strongcoupling, one variant uses a multicolour probing technique toavoid distortion in the probe approximations that appear whenusing the method proposed by Chan et al. The second techniqueuses additional probe matrices to approximate not only the couplingwithin the interfaces but also the coupling between interfacepoints across the subdomains. This latter procedure looks somewhatlike an alternating line relaxation method for anisotropic problems,see Brandt (1977 Math. Comput.. 31, 333-390). To assess therelevance of the new preconditioners, we compare their numericalbehaviour with well known robust preconditioners such as thebalanced Neumann-Neumann method proposed by Mandel (1993 Commun.Numer. The ‘anomalous perihelion precession’ of Mercury, announced by Le Verrier in 1859, was a highly controversial topic for more than half a century and invoked many alternative theories until 1916, when Einstein presented his theory of general relativity as an alternative theory of gravitation and showed perihelion precession to be one of its potential manifestations. As perihelion precession was a directly derived result of the full General Theory and not just the Equivalence Principle, Einstein viewed it as the most critical test of his theory. This paper presents the computed value of the anomalous perihelion precession of Mercury's orbit using a new relativistic simulation model that employs a simple transformation factor for mass and time, proposed in an earlier paper. This computed value compares well with the prediction of general relativity and is, also, in complete agreement with the observed value within its range of uncertainty. No general relativistic equations have been used for computing the results presented in this paper.  相似文献

There is considerable current interest in the design and constructionof directly executable modelling languages for mathematicalprogramming. The present research extends contemporary modellinglanguages by specifying a type calculus for an extended dimensionalsystem that determines if the model is well formed in the sensethat the objective function and constraints consist of homogeneouscomponents. Each variable, coefficient, constant, function,constraint, input, and output of the model is assigned a typethat consists of its concepts, quantities, and units of measurementwith optional scale factors. In checking the composition offunctions and constraints, the system can do automatic unitconversions and apply user-supplied conversions. The systemallows a hierarchy of concepts that provides inheritance ofquantities and automatic concept conversion. In addition, eachset in a model is typed so the system can check the validityof operations on indices.  相似文献

Received on 1 July 1991. Predicting human behaviour patterns with linear correlationmodels has absorbed researchers for the past five decades. Althoughmost observers generally concede that humans are inferior tosuch models in combining information, linear scoring modelsare unfortunately, plagued by the flat-maximum effect or the‘curse of insensitivity’. As Lovie & Lovie(1986)observe: ‘The predictive ability of linear models is insensitiveto large variations in the size of regression weights and tothe number of predictors.’ In essence, seemingly differentscoringmodels tend to produce indistinguishable predictive outcomes. Since its demonstration by Dawes & Corrigan (1974), observershave cast the flat maximum in a decidedly negative light. Incontrast, Lovie & Lovie (1986) present a provocatively contrarianview of the flat maximum‘s positive potential. In thissame vein, we examine the predictive power of a generic credit-scoringmodel versus individual empirically derived systems. If, asWainer (1976) noted in regard to the flat maximum, ’itdon‘t make no nevermind’, generic credit-scoringmodels could provide cheaper alternatives to individual empiricallyderived models. During the period 1984–8, a series of linear credit-scoringmodels were developed for ten Southeastern U.S. credit unions.For each credit union, stepwise multiple regression was employedto select a subset of explanatory variables to be used in adiscriminant analysis. A generic credit-scoring equation wasdeveloped from the resulting discriminant analyses using weightedaverage coefficients from five systems. The predictive powerof the generic model was compared to the predictive power ofholdout sample of the five remaining credit-scoring models. In all cases, the generic model's performance was very closeto that of the empirically derived models. Thus, our findingssupport Lovie & Lovie's (1986) challenge to the conventionalwisdom that the flat maximum casts a pall on the successfulmodelling of judgement processes. Indeed, the flat maximum impliesa positive role for simpler, and hence cheaper, generic models.Although further research is needed, it should be possible todevelop hybrid models with generic cores that perform as wellas empirically derived linear models.  相似文献

A sensitive and reliable high‐performance liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS) was developed and validated for simultaneous quantification IC87114, roflumilast (RFM), and its active metabolite roflumilast N‐oxide (RFN) using tolbutamide as an internal standard. The analytes were extracted by using liquid–liquid extraction and separated on a reverse phase C18 column (50 mm × 3 mm i.d., 4.6 µ) using methanol: 2 mM ammonium acetate buffer, pH 4.0 as mobile phase at a flow rate 1 mL/min in gradient mode. Selective reaction monitoring was performed using the transitions m/z 398.3 > 145.9, 403.1 >186.9, 419.1 > 187.0 and 271.1 > 155.0 to quantify quantification IC87114, RFM, RFN and tolbutamide, respectively. The method was validated over the concentration range of 0.1–60 ng.mL?1 for RFM and RFN and 6 to 2980 ng.mL?1 for IC87114. Intra‐ and inter‐day accuracy and precision of validated method were within the acceptable limits of <15% at all concentrations. Coefficients of correlation (r2) for the calibration curves were >0.99 for all analytes. The quantitation method was successfully applied for simultaneous estimation of IC87114, RFM and RFN in a pharmacokinetic drug–drug interaction study in Wistar rats. This paper describes ab initio electronic structure calculations on the planar transition states of 2-chloropropene leading to HCI elimination in the ground electronic state to form either propyne or allene as the cofragment. The calculations provide optimized geometries of the transition states for these two reaction channels, together with vibrational frequencies, barrier heights, and reaction endothermicities. The calculated barrier heights for the two distinct four-centre HCI elimination transition states, one leading to HCI and propyne and the other leading to HCI and allene, are 72.5kcalmol?1 (77.8kcalmol?1 without zero-point correction) and 73.2kcalmol?1 (78.7kcalmol?1) at the MP2/6-311G(d, p) level, 71.Okcalmol?1 (76.3kcalmol?1) and 70.5kcalmol?1 (76.0kcalmol?1) at the QCISD(T)/6-311 +G(d, p)//MP2/6-311G(d, p) level, and 66.9kcalmol?1 (71.7kcalmol?1) and 67.3kcalmol?1 (72.1kcalmol1) at the G3//B3LYP level of theory. Calculated harmonic vibrational frequencies at the B3LYP/6-31G(d) level along with transition state barrier heights from the G3//B3LYP level of theory are used to obtain RRKM reaction rate constants for each transition state, which determine the branching ratio between the two HCI elimination channels. Even at internal energies well above both HCI elimination barriers, the HCI elimination leading to propyne is strongly favoured. The smaller rate constant for the HCI elimination leading to allene can be attributed to the strong hindrance of the methyl rotor in the corresponding transition state.  相似文献
