Research focused on the transformation and utilization of industrial wastes into products of commercial interest plays an increasingly important role. Residual pulp can become useful in the manufacture of different materials, providing high value to this waste and reducing its environmental impact when disposed of improperly in the environment. The main constituents of this waste are kaolin and calcium carbonate (CaCO3). Starting from kaolin, metakaolin can be produced by calcination of the residue at 630?°C for 2?h in a rotary reactor with air flow, followed by solubilization with hydrochloric acid to remove the CaCO3. The development of technological alternatives aimed at the reuse of certain wastes can result in applications of real economic interest to the chemical industry and ceramics and glass, which is the case in this study. The raw material and metakaolin obtained were analyzed by thermogravimetric analysis and derivative thermogravimetric analysis, X-ray diffraction, and X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy with promising results. This is because metakaolin was obtained free of contamination by other materials.  相似文献

Although the classical Fractional Brownian Motion is often used to describe porosity, it is not adapted to anisotropic situations. In the present work, we study a class of Gaussian fields with stationary increments and spectral density. They present asymptotic self-similarity properties and are good candidates to model a homogeneous anisotropic material, or its radiographic images. Unfortunately, the paths of all Gaussian fields with stationary increments have the same apparent regularity in all directions (except at most one). Hence we propose here a procedure to recover anisotropy from one realization: computing averages over all the hyperplanes which are orthogonal to a fixed direction, we get a process whose Hölder regularity depends explicitly on the asymptotic behavior of the spectral density in this direction.  相似文献

Bringing quantum science and technology to the space frontier offers exciting prospects for both fundamental physics and applications such as long-range secure communication and space-borne quantum probes for inertial sensing with enhanced accuracy and sensitivity. But despite important terrestrial pathfinding precursors on common microgravity platforms and promising proposals to exploit the significant advantages of space quantum missions, large-scale quantum test beds in space are yet to be realised due to the high costs and lead times of traditional ‘Big Space’ satellite development. But the ‘small space’ revolution, spearheaded by the rise of nanosatellites such as CubeSats, is an opportunity to greatly accelerate the progress of quantum space missions by providing easy and affordable access to space and encouraging agile development. We review space quantum science and technology, CubeSats and their rapidly developing capabilities and how they can be used to advance quantum satellite systems.  相似文献

Cobalt?Ccobalt carbide [Co x C (x?=?2 or 3)] and cobalt (FCC-Co) microwires have been synthesized using a polyol method in the presence of a high external magnetic field of 4.3?kOe. It was reported before that the synthesis of these particles in the absence of magnetic field leads to the formation of spherical particles. Analysis of the X-ray diffraction (XRD) scans indicates that the synthesized Co x C wires consist of four phases?? ??-Co, ??-Co, Co3C, and Co2C. The percent composition of these phases was 53.3?% Co3C, 26.8?% Co2C, 12.5?% ??-Co, and 7.4?% ??-Co. XRD analysis of the as-synthesized cobalt wires shows that it consists of single-phase FCC-Co. Based on Scherrer analysis of the XRD data, the average crystallite sizes of the cobalt carbide and the cobalt particles are 18.5 and 16.3?nm, respectively. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) studies show that the diameter of Co x C wires is in the range of 1.6(±0.2)???m with their length varying between 18 and 30???m while the diameter of the cobalt wires is 1.65(±0.1). The SEM results infer that the morphology of the growing particles was controlled by the magnetic field with the applied field directs the growth of the particles into wires. The magnetic measurements indicate a superparamagnetic character of the cobalt wires and a soft ferromagnetic nature of the synthesized Co x C chains. The degree and field range of the interactions between magnetic domains have been investigated using a Henkel plot.  相似文献

The pro-oxidant compound okadaic acid (OKA) mimics alterations found in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) as oxidative stress and tau hyperphosphorylation, leading to neurodegeneration and cognitive decline. Although loss of dendrite complexity occurs in AD, the study of this post-synaptic domain in chemical-induced models remains unexplored. Moreover, there is a growing expectation for therapeutic adjuvants to counteract these brain dysfunctions. Melatonin, a free-radical scavenger, inhibits tau hyperphosphorylation, modulates phosphatases, and strengthens dendritic arbors. Thus, we determined if OKA alters the dendritic arbors of hilar hippocampal neurons and whether melatonin prevents, counteracts, or reverses these damages. Rat organotypic cultures were incubated with vehicle, OKA, melatonin, and combined treatments with melatonin either before, simultaneously, or after OKA. DNA breaks were assessed by TUNEL assay and nuclei were counterstained with DAPI. Additionally, MAP2 was immunostained to assess the dendritic arbor properties by the Sholl method. In hippocampal hilus, OKA increased DNA fragmentation and reduced the number of MAP2(+) cells, whereas melatonin protected against oxidation and apoptosis. Additionally, OKA decreased the dendritic arbor complexity and melatonin not only counteracted, but also prevented and reversed the dendritic arbor retraction, highlighting its role in post-synaptic domain integrity preservation against neurodegenerative events in hippocampal neurons.  相似文献

The constrained compartmentalized knapsack problem can be seen as an extension of the constrained knapsack problem. However, the items are grouped into different classes so that the overall knapsack has to be divided into compartments, and each compartment is loaded with items from the same class. Moreover, building a compartment incurs a fixed cost and a fixed loss of the capacity in the original knapsack, and the compartments are lower and upper bounded. The objective is to maximize the total value of the items loaded in the overall knapsack minus the cost of the compartments. This problem has been formulated as an integer non-linear program, and in this paper, we reformulate the non-linear model as an integer linear master problem with a large number of variables. Some heuristics based on the solution of the restricted master problem are investigated. A new and more compact integer linear model is also presented, which can be solved by a branch-and-bound commercial solver that found most of the optimal solutions for the constrained compartmentalized knapsack problem. On the other hand, heuristics provide good solutions with low computational effort.  相似文献

Lipases are an enzyme class of a great importance as biocatalysts applied to organic chemistry. However, it is still necessary to search for new enzymes with special characteristics such as good stability towards high temperatures, organic solvents, and high stereoselectivity presence. The present work’s aim was to immobilize the lipases pool produced by Penicillium simplissicimum, a filamentous fungi strain isolated from Brazilian babassu cake residue. P. simplissicimum lipases were separated into three different fractions using selective adsorption method on different hydrophobic supports (butyl-, phenyl-, and octyl-agarose) at low ionic strength. After immobilization, it was observed that these fractions’ hyperactivation is in the range of 131% to 1133%. This phenomenon probably occurs due to enzyme open form stabilization when immobilized onto hydrophobic supports. Those fractions showed different thermal stability, specificity, and enantioselectivity towards some substrates. Enantiomeric ratio for the hydrolysis of (R,S) 2-O-butyryl-2-phenylacetic acid ranged from 1 to 7.9 for different immobilized P. simplissicimum lipase fractions. Asymmetry factor for diethyl 2-phenylmalonate hydrolysis ranged from 11.8 to 16.4 according to the immobilized P. simplissicimum lipase fractions. Those results showed that sequential adsorption methodology was an efficient strategy to obtain new biocatalysts with different enantioselectivity degrees, thermostability, and specificity prepared with a crude extract produced by a simple and low-cost technology.  相似文献

As a part of this research, combination of C60 with oligophenylenevinylene (OPV) subunits has generated significant research efforts. Poly(lactic-co-glycolic) acid (PLGA) is an important copolymer used in drug delivery platforms where controlled release is required. In this work we investigated the in vitro degradation of four PLGA copolymers with L/G molar compositions of 50/50, 65/35, 75/25 and 95/5. ATR-IR and Raman spectroscopies were used to differentiate and quantify the degradation rates of glycolic and lactic units. Both techniques were used to determine the polymer composition as a function of degradation time and the degradation rate constants for the hydrolysis of glycolic and lactic units were calculated using a 1st order kinetics approach. Our results revealed a two stage process for the degradation of PLGA cast films in PBS in agreement with our previous work. The degradation rate constant for glycolic unit was found to be 1.3 times higher than for lactic units. In addition the degradation rate constants for L and G units were shown to decrease proportionally with increasing initial lactic content of the copolymer used to prepare the films.  相似文献

The classical rules for Cope rearrangements predict a transition state with chair form to be favored over the boat form. On the other hand, bridged homotropylidenes, which allow only a boat-form transition state by steric reasons, have extremely low barriers. A controversy about the correct pathway and the different possible intermediates and transition states of the reaction has gone on for years. In this work, the hypersurfaces of barbaralane, in comparison with the boat- and chair-form of hexa-1,5-diene, are computed by the ab inito CASSCF (6,6)/6-31G** method starting with UMP2/6-31G** natural orbitals (NO's). All three hypersurfaces show characteristic features, and, moreover differ from each other. A hitherto undiscussed intermediate, bicyclo[2.2.0]hexane, was localized on the boat-hexa-1,5-diene pathway. So it is noteworthy that our transition state for the boat-hexa-1,5-diene does not correspond to the transition states found by other authors for this conformation. The computed enthalpies of activation of boat- and chair-hexa-1,5-diene, and barbaralane are in good agreement with the experimental data.  相似文献
