1, 2-Di-(p-methoxyphenyl)-ethane-1, 2-diol gave in acid media bis-(4-methoxy-phenyl)-acetaldehyde, 4-4′-dimethoxy-deoxybenzoin, and 1, 2-di-(p-methoxyphenyl)-ethylene oxide; their respective yields being influenced by at least 3 factors: (i) the acid, (ii) its concentration, and (iii) the reaction period. Bis-(4-methoxyphenyl)-acetaldehyde rearranged to the deoxybenzoin in boiling sulfuric (50%) or phosphoric (75%) acids (w/w), and to two isomeric 1, 2-diacetoxy-1, 2-di-(p-methoxyphenyl) ethanes when it was heated with acetic anhydride. The mechanisms of these reactions are discussed.  相似文献

A discrete multi-species size-structured competition model is considered. By using decreasing growth functions, we achieve the self-regulation of species. We develop various biologically significant conditions for global convergence to the extinction state of the dominated species in the competitive system. With an example we illustrate coexistence in a chaotic supr transient. The chaotic attractor has an unusual pulsating nature.  相似文献

The effects of unidirectional dispersal on single pioneer species discrete-time metapopulations where the pre-dispersal local patch dynamics are of the same (compensatory or overcompensatory) or mixed (compensatory and overcompensatory) types are studied. Single-species unidirectional metapopulation models behave as single-species single-patch models whenever all pre-dispersal local patch dynamics are compensatory and the dispersal rate is low. The pioneer species goes extinct in at least one patch when the dispersal rate is high, while it persists when the rate is low. Unidirectional dispersal can generate multiple attractors with fractal basin boundaries whenever the pre-dispersal local patch dynamics are overcompensatory, and is capable of altering the local patch dynamics in mixed systems from compensatory to overcompensatory dynamics and vice versa.  相似文献

We extend the framework of Rios-Soto et al. (Contemporary Mathematics, 2006, 410, 297) to include both compensatory (contest competition) and overcompensatory (scramble competition) population dynamics with and without the Allee effect. We compute the basic reproductive number ?0, and use it to predict the (uniform) persistence or extinction of the infective population, where the population dynamics are compensatory and the Allee effect is either present or absent. We also explore the relationship between the demographic equation and the epidemic process, where the total population dynamics are overcompensatory. In particular, we show that the demographic dynamics drive both the susceptible and infective dynamics. This is in contrast to the recent observations of Franke and Yakubu, that the demographic dynamics can be chaotic while the infective dynamics are oscillatory and non-chaotic in periodically-forced SIS epidemic models (Mathematical Biosciences, 2006, 204, 68).  相似文献

Finite-element, transient heat transfer analyses were performed for the first-stage blades of the space shuttle main engine high-pressure fuel turbopump. The analyses were based on test engine data provided by Rocketdyne. Heat transfer coefficients were predicted by performing a boundary-layer analysis at steady-state conditions with the 5 boundary-layer code. Two different peak-temperature overshoots were evaluated for the startup transient. Cutoff transient conditions were also analyzed. A reduced gas temperature profile based on actual thermocouple data was also considered. Transient heat transfer analyses were conducted with the finite-element computer code.  相似文献

The invariance under a one-parameter infinitesimal transformation groups [1] has been proven for a number of nonlinear partial differential equations (NLPDEs) with constant coefficients, which appear in a wide variety of modelling physical phenomena/applications. The invariance identities of Rund [2] involving the Lagrangian and the generators of the infinitesimal Lie groups are utilized, for writing down the conservation laws via Noether's theorem. In order that the study becomes more exhaustive, we have applied the above technique to the cases arising from the generalized Klein–Gordon equation by transforming it to ordinary differential equation (ODE), to get on exact solution for it.  相似文献

The role of age-structure and the Allee effect in generating multiple attractors in juvenile-adult single species single patch discrete-time models without dispersal are studied. In the presence of the Allee effect juvenile-adult single patch models support multiple attractors. However, in the absence of the Allee effect single attractors are supported when the dynamics are compensatory while multiple attractors are supported under overcompensatory dynamics. When the governing dynamics are compensatory, the boundaries of the basins of attraction have simple structure while complicated fractal basin boundaries are supported under overcompensatory dynamics.  相似文献

A novel 96-microwell-based spectrophotometric assay has been developed and validated for determination of olmesartan medoxomil (OLM) in tablets. The formation of a colored charge-transfer (CT) complex between OLM as a n-electron donor and 2, 5-dichloro-3, 6-dihydroxy-1, 4-benzoquinone (p-chloranilic acid, pCA) as a π-electron acceptor was investigated, for the first time, and employed as a basis in the development of the proposed assay. The proposed assay was carried out in 96-microwell plates. The absorbance of the colored-CT complex was measured at 490 nm by microwell-plate absorbance reader. The optimum conditions of the reaction and the analytical procedures of the assay were established. Under the optimum conditions, linear relationship with good correlation coefficient was found between the absorbance and the concentration of OLM in the range of 1-200 μg ml-1. The limits of detection and quantitation were 0.3 and 1 μg ml-1, respectively. No interference was observed from the additives that are present in the pharmaceutical formulation or from hydrochlorothiazide and amlodipine that are co-formulated with OLM in some formulations. The assay was successfully applied to the analysis of OLM in tablets with good accuracy and precision. The assay described herein has great practical value in the routine analysis of OLM in quality control laboratories, as it has high throughput property, consumes minimum volume of organic solvent thus it offers the reduction in the exposures of the analysts to the toxic effects of organic solvents, and reduction in the analysis cost by 50-fold. Although the proposed assay was validated for OLM, however, the same methodology could be used for any electron-donating analyte for which a CT reaction can be performed.  相似文献

In this article, we prove that in connected metric spaces n - cycles are not globally attracting (where n S 2 ). We apply this result to a two species discrete-time Lotka-Volterra competition model with stocking. In particular, we show that an n - cycle cannot be the ultimate life-history of evolution of all population sizes. This solves Yakubu's conjecture but the question on the structure of the boundary of the basins of attractions of the locally stable n - cycles is still open.  相似文献
