Reported values(0.2 MPa-7.0 GPa) of the interlayer shear strength(ISS) of graphite are very dispersed.The main challenge to obtain a reliable value of the ISS using conventional measuring methods was the unavailability of sufficiently large single crystalline graphite.Here we present a novel experimental method to measure the ISS,and obtain the value as ~0.14 GPa.Our result can serve as an important basis for understanding mechanical behavior of graphite or graphene-based materials. 相似文献

H2S is an essential gas signal molecule in cells, and viscosity is a key internal environmental parameter. Recent studies have shown that H2S acts as a cytoarchitecture agent and gas transmitter in many tissues, e.g., as a regulator of neuroendocrine in the brain for mediating vascular tone in blood vessels. Mitochondrial viscosity is an important parameter for judging whether mitochondrial function is normal. It has been reported that oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction are connected with Parkinson’s disease (PD), and the protective role of H2S in PD models has been extensively demonstrated. Herein, Mito-HS, a new two-photon fluorescent probe was demonstrated to detect cross-talk between the two channels of mitochondrial viscosity and H2S content. Moreover, this probe could detect the relative amount of and changes in mitochondrial H2S in situ due to the reduced mitochondrial targeting ability after reaction with H2S. The results show that H2S in mitochondria is inversely related to viscosity. The PD model has a lower H2S in mitochondria and a higher mitochondrial viscosity than did the normal. This result is important for our deep understanding of PD and its causes. 相似文献

Surface instability of compliant film/substrate bilayers has raised considerable interests due to its broad applications such as wrinkle-driven surface renewal and antifouling,shape-morphing for camouflaging skins,and micro/nano-scale surface patterning control.However,it is still a challenge to precisely predict and continuously trace secondary bifurcation transitions in the nonlinear post-buckling region.Here,we develop lattice models to precisely capture the nonlinear morphology evolution with multiple mode transitions that occur in the film/substrate systems.Based on our models,we reveal an intricate post-buckling phenomenon involving successive flat-wrinkle-doubling-quadrupling-fold bifurcations.Pre-stretch and pre-compression of the substrate,as well as bilayer modulus ratio,can alter surface morphology of film/substrate bilayers.With high substrate pre-tension,hierarchical wrinkles emerge in the bilayer with a low modulus ratio,while a wrinkle-to-ridge transition occurs with a high modulus ratio.Besides,with moderate substrate pre-compression,the bilayer eventually evolves into a period-tripling mode.Phase diagrams based on neo-Hookean and Arruda-Boyce constitutions are drawn to characterize the influences of different factors and to provide an overall view of ultimate pattern formation.Fundamental understanding and quantitative prediction of the nonlinear morphological transitions of soft bilayer materials hold potential for multifunctional surface regulation. 相似文献

As a prototype material of colossal barocaloric effects, neopentylglycol is investigated by combining high-precision differential scanning calorimetric measurement and high-energy x-ray diffraction measurement. The diffraction data at constant temperatures indicate a first-order phase transition with thermal hysteresis as well as the phase transition asymmetry, specifically, the phase transition is completed faster at cooling than at heating. The analysis of resulting pair distribution function confirms the intermolecular disorder in the high-temperature phase. The phase transition asymmetry is quantitatively characterized by time-resolved x-ray diffraction, which is in agreement with the thermal measurement. Also, such an asymmetry is observed to be suppressed at high pressures. 相似文献
