Torsion and interaction of polarized photons

The contribution of the interacting vector and pseudovector torsion components to the interaction of polarized photons in an atomic sodium vapor is investigated. Investigation of the chemical heterogeneity of polyphenylenes using the condensation of methyl aryl ketones as a model reaction

The chemical heterogeneity of polyphenylenes obtained by trimerization poiycycio-condensation of acetylaromatic compounds has been investigated by GLC-MS analysis of the products of trimerization cyclocondensation of acetophenone. The mechanism for the formation of side products of the reaction is discussed. The presence of dypnone fragments in the polyphenylene structure results in a decrease in the thermal stability of these polymers.Deceased March, 1993.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. Synthesis and properties of comb-shaped segmented poly(urethanes) based on 1,2-propanediol derivatives

Comb-shaped segmented poly(urethanes) have been synthesized from ethers via the one-step procedure with the use of glycerol monostearate, D,L-3-octadecyloxy-1,2-propanediol, 3-tert-butoxy-1,2-propanediol, 3-benzyloxy-1,2-propanediol, and 1,2-propanediol as chain extenders. The soft segment of poly(urethanes) was derived from macrodiol (poly(tetramethylene glycol) with M _n = 1000), and 1,6-hexamethylene diisocyanate and 4,4′-cyclohexylmethane diisocyanate were used as diisocyanates. The effect of the structure of side chains located at the hard segments on the formation of hydrogen bonds in comb-shaped poly(urethanes) has been studied by IR spectroscopy. On the basis of DSC measurements, the glass transition temperatures of the soft and hard segments and the temperature and enthalpy of melting of the crystalline phase have been estimated and the microphase separation of segments has been assessed. The mechanical characteristics of the polymers under study have been examined.     

Effect of the microwave signal power on the controllability of a ferroelectric phase shifter

We consider a microwave phase shifter based on thin-film ferroelectric parallel-plate capacitors operating as a part of a phased array at an elevated microwave power level and for a limited power in the control circuits. To eliminate capacitance modulation in parallel-plate capacitors by an ac field, we propose the separation of the effects of the dc control voltage and the ac voltage based on the symmetry of the capacitance-voltage characteristic of the unit including two capacitors parallel-connected in the ac voltage U _ac and series-connected in dc voltage U _dc. The experiment shows that for U _dc > U _ac, the phase of the wave passing through the phase shifter weakly depends on the microwave signal power. The reflection phase shifter is tested for a pulsed power of the microwave signal up to 6 W and a power in the control circuit on the order of 10 μW.     

Mass spectrometry of π-complexes of transition metals 38—keto-enol tautomerization of molecular ions of acetyl- and propionyl-ferrocenes in the gas phase

Fragmentation of the acetyl- and propionyl-ferrocenes under electron impact together with the rupture of C? CO bonds, characteristic of ketones, also includes elimination of water and migration of the OH group to the central metal atom, which is due to keto-enol tautomerization of the acyl group in molecular or fragment ions.
